Following a 2-script pickup last week, NBC has given new drama series Grimm a full-season pickup with a Back 9 order. The move comes after the rookie posted a 1.6 adult 18-49 rating this past Friday, even with the previous week to stop the show’s post-premiere slide. Additionally, NBC, which opted to keep Grimm in its original low-trafficked Friday 9 PM slot on the recently released midseason schedule, is giving the fairytale procedural a tryout in the Thursday 10 PM slot. A new Grimm episode will air on Thursday Dec. 8, followed by another original in the series’ regular Friday 9 PM berth the following night. “This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights,” NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said. “We love where it’s going creatively and we’re excited to deliver more episodes to our audience.” Grimm exceeded expectations with its debut, which posted a 2.1 demo rating on Friday airing against Game 7 of the World Series. Season-to-date, it has averaged a 2.3/7 in adults 18-49 and 6.9 million viewers overall in “most current” averages and has improved NBC’s Friday 9 PM time period by 50% in adults 18-49 vs. last year in “live+same day.” Grimm also has proven a big DVR draw, growing 47% in 18-49 in Live+7, more than any new drama this fall. It has become the only freshman NBC drama to get a full-season order, joining comedies Up All Night and Whitney.
Inspired by the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Grimm centers on Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) who discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. Grimm is produced by Universal Television with Hazy Mills Prods. and GK Prods. It was created by Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf. Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner, David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf, Naren Shankar and Norberto Barba are the executive producers.

AWESOME!!!!!! I love love love Grimm. The episodes keep getting better and better and I love how scary and interesting it is how it interpets these fairy tales.
Congrats to Grimm! Hopefully you’ll be around for a long time!
It can’t hurt for them to ry the show out in a better and more feasible time period and this migth actually do the trick, since Chuck is hurting them from their lead outs on friday nights. NBC has some form of good news in an overall horrible season so far.
We’ll take it!!! WooHoo!!! HazyMills strikes again. Thanks for the fresh programming, guys.
Yes! I thoroughly enjoy this new series and hope it does indeed stay around a very long time. As long as the writing continues as it has been so far, I am a fan forever. The comedic twist with the vegan wolf is pretty great.
Silas Weir Mitchell is AMAZING on the Show!!!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU NBC!!!!
Wholeheartedly agree with you about Silas Weir Mitchell. He makes the series for me.
We love Grimm, thank you for featuring Portland Oregon, what a great place to set the show! Great job everyone!
Great. Grimm is awsome and I am a major cridict in what I watch this show weekly. I love it full of surprises and how they twist fairy tails with the csi thrill. It is kinda like Once upon a time in a way except grim is better
Check out my my movie blog at MymovieRevies.com
Really, Casey? Your movie review blog misspells the word “movie?” As a major “cridict?” Really?
Thank you NBC. I love Grimm, and now I have 9 more reasons to watch it. Can’t wait for Smash, The Firm, Chelsea and the other midseason shows. NBC must have a great season since…um…Good job, NBC! You haven’t failed yet (Community coming back soon).
I miss ER.
lol. You must be a pretty harsh critic considering you don’t even know how to spell the word. Also, you aren’t nearly as hard on shows that you think you are, considering the show isn’t interesting or creepy.
Casey-you might want to hit spell check before you post another one of your “revies”. It’s hard to believe someone could have so many spelling and grammatical errors in one short comment. Perhaps a remedial course at the Learning Annex is in order.
Why do execs still think that moving a show around multiple times on the schedule in the middle of a season is going to attract a solid following?
We have enough cable shows and internet to keep us distracted. The big networks have to stop working on the old idea that we are basing our lives around their ADD scheduling.
This is the best new show of all networks. Love the characters and story lines. We look forward to friday nights! (soon thursdays)
THIS IS AWESOME
one more correct decision
Doesn’t work for me. I love Grimm, but my Thursday viewings are already scheduled. When a network changes a show from the least watched night to the most watched night self sabotage comes to mind.
Then KT watch the show on it’s original Friday night timeslot. See problem solved.
I’m kinda liking the Thursday scheduling. Thursday isn’t the hard to crack nut it used to be, Grays and Private Practice are gasping for air. Might be nice counterprogramming. I’m liking the show – self-contained story each weeek with an advancing mythology. Nice. I have high hopes, especially since I loathed Once Upon a Time.
I’m thrilled NBC is committed to a full season of Grimm. I love the series and watch it each Friday. It’s probably good switching it to Thursday. Now it can find a wider audience and won’t have to compete with the popular Blue Bloods.
Except it doesn’t air opposite Blue Bloods. It airs opposite CSI:NY.
Good move NBC. 3′s a crowd when it comes to airing opposite fellow genre shows such as Supernatural & Fringe.
Now if only Supernatural & Fringe could come to some kind of arrangement…

You’re right. My bad.
This is great news. Along with Terra Nova, Grimm is my favourite new drama of this season. I was worried with only a 2 script order at first but great to hear it actually got the back nine. It doesn’t matter to me what night it’s on because I record it anyway and watch it the next day but if it helps ratings to get it out of Friday and away from the other genre shows it’s competing against, then go forth and move. I’m so happy, love this show for its quirkiness.
After the first episode, Grimm has left a bad taste in my mouth. The episodes after that just continued to make it worse. In my opinion, the show is just another cop drama with a super natural twist.
So it’s airing on Thursday December 8th and then there’s a new episode on the next night? They’d almost be better off just airing an encore of the Thurs night episode on Friday night.
Oh, and fans of the show should hardly be cheering for it to switch nights. It has a better chance of lasting a long time if it sticks to Friday nights where expectations are lower.
When only one blog/mag of note (namely EW) is recapping your barely decent show – great concept, weak procedural; horrible lead (actor); stronger supporting cast with thankless roles – currently blessed with solid ratings, moving it from flatline Friday to an eternally-crowded, higher-quality Thursday is a bone-headed move. I thought Mr. Greenblatt was brought it to purge these decisions.
Wow! That would a smart move. I would want to see Grimm on Thursday night but i wish it would be on an earlier timeslot.
To those who had predicted that the Grimm would suck, i’ll tell you, “You Suck!”. Grimm is one of the coolest TV series on TV today. i so love it.
Grimm is truely a nice fit between Once Upon A Time amd Supernatural.
