NBC To Give ‘Harry’s Law’ Full-Season Order; ‘Prime Suspect’ Gone?
After a pretty dismal fall, NBC is shaking things up in midseason with several scheduling changes. Gone from the lineup is struggling freshman Prime Suspect (NBC says it hasn’t made a final decision on its cancellation), while four series — Whitney, Up All Night, Harry’s Law and Rock Center With Brian Williams — are on the move. NBC is creating a multi-camera comedy block in the 8-9 PM Wednesday hour with Whitney and midseason comedy Are You There, Chelsea (formerly Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me Chelsea; No alcohol-flavored title in the family hour.) The block, which will debut January 11, brings together two female comedians with similar sensibility in Whitney Cummings and Chelsea Handler, on whose books Chelsea is based. A month later, the two comedies will be followed by low-rated newsmagazine Rock Center With Brian Williams.
It will take over the Wednesday 9 PM slot from Harry’s Law, which is moving to Sundays. Rock Center had to move out of the Monday 10 PM slot to make room for NBC’s highest-profile new series this season, Broadway drama Smash, which will premiere on February 6 and run in the post-The Voice slot as originally scheduled. NBC’s other changes for midseason include new comedy Up All Night moving to Whitney‘s Thursday 9:30 PM slot; 30 Rock replacing Community on Thursdays at 8 PM; and the John Grisham adaptation The Firm, originally slated for a Sunday midseason run, sliding into Prime Suspect‘s Thursday 10 PM slot. The order for Community has not been reduced, so it’s unclear what NBC will do with the remaining episodes of the college-set comedy. Missing from the midseason lineup is NBC’s ambitious new drama series Awake, which recently took an unplanned break to work on scripts. Here is NBC’s midseason schedule (with premiere dates) that also includes new reality series Fashion Star on Tuesdays at 10 PM and the return of Celebrity Apprentice on Sundays:

Where is Awake?!!!
So that horrible piece of trash show Whitney stays on the air and Community is pulled? Damn you NBC.
It must suck working at NBC these days….knowing you suck.
I would pay $1,000 to know what suit at NBC Whitney Cummings is banging? She’s utterly dreadful — the most annoying new “star” on network TV. Her huge mouth — big enough to vacuum my house, just creeps me out. Please, NBC, make her go away!
No, seriously … Where the explicative is ‘Community’.
If ‘Whitney’ survives and ‘Community’ is gone, I’m just going to take my viewership 100% to premium cable and illegally download the 2 remaining NBC shows I watch (‘Parks & Rec’ and ’30 Rock’).
I will be doing the exact same thing. NBC’s thursday comedies are currently the only network programs I watch.
I will reign fire and destruction upon you NBC.
NBC fracked up it’s Thursday line up.
Community
Parks & Rec
Community
30 Rock
Just leave it like that! Forever. Just leave it alone.
Put Whitney, Up All Night, and Chelsea together on Wednesdays.
In case everyone else didn’t say it…PLEASE DON’T CANCEL COMMUNITY! Where is it? Find a place.
And Cancel the ridiculous and pointless Rock Center and put Awake there.
I think most of these changes are pretty damn solid, but PLEASE find a place for Community!!! It’s the most original comedy on network TV. And consistently funny. It doesnt get huge numbers, but neither does ANY show on NBC.
Fashion Star should be saved for the summer and Awake should go to Tuesday at 10.
Where the hell is Community!? Looks like I’m no longer watching NBC with Chuck gone as well…
Where’s AWAKE?
So ‘Prime Suspect’ is where? On hiatus?
BRING BACK COMMUNITY!!
Community is averaging like a 1.6 demo and 3.5 million viewers. If Sony wants to keep it on that bad, front the cost, keep shooting episodes and take it somewhere else.
It’s a loser even on NBC.
Why the hell are Whitney and Chelsea it the 8 o’clock hour? Neither of those shows should be at that hour. I mean seriously. Does NBC think this is going to solve their ratings problem? Why is that awful who do you think you are still on? That’s gonna kill Grimm’s ratings even more. I just dang deal with the foolishness happening at NBC.
COMMUNITY!!!??? I want my Community !!!!
Where does Parenthood move to after Feb. 28th?!
Its season will be done by then. It’s only making 18 episodes this year and something like 10 or 11 will have aired before the Christmas hiatus.
Really NBC? Community and Parenthood don’t get full seasons but Whitney does? Maybe if you promoted your far superior shows rather than tripe like Whitney, they’d do better.
NO NO NO! WHERE IS COMMUNITY! WHERE!
Am I getting this right? After they successfully injured SVU with Harry’s Law lead-in, they’re now trying to kill it once and for all with Rock Center? Who’s doing the programming at NBC? I know that they don’t have much to work with, but this is just ridiculous. The only day of the week that looks solid and thought-through is Monday.
By same sensibilities do you mean two women that literrally effed their way to the top? Just wondering.
Wow, looks like Awake is dead. Shocking.
Two things:
For all the people complaining about Whitney getting a full season getting top choice for whatever spot…look at the ratings from the start, they’ve been better than any other shows on that night ( including the Office…does anyone not see the problem with that?) So as much crap that show is ( and it is crap) people are watching.
And as much as i love Community and seen every episode since the beginning…the only saving grace is if the show hits a 2.0 demo and 5 million + viewers when it comes back (which it hasnt done since the season 2 premiere….that’s right….season 2!!!) then Grendale might be shut down by the end of the season.
NBC has some trouble spelling. It’s spelled C-O-M-M-U-N-I-T-Y, not W-H-I-T-N-E-Y.
LOL @ Anon E. Mouse! Nice one!
Why is NBC this stupid???? The voice should be on tuesdays where it can win the night. Harry’s law on sunday? Way to give your most viewed show the shaft– they should have moved Harry’s law to wed at 8. Chelsea should lead off Thursday’s. Who is running this network?!
