EXCLUSIVE: Nickelodeon’s SVP Development & Original Programming Tracy Katsky is leaving the youth-oriented cable network after 4 years. Katsky’s contract was up, and she opted not to renew it. Katsky will be leaving at the end of the week, and I’ve already heard her name mentioned in the mix for a couple of high-profile executive and producing jobs around town. Before joining Nickelodeon in 2007, Katsky was SVP of development for HBO Independent Prods., SVP and head of comedy for Fox and SVP and head of comedy for Regency TV.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Not a surprise — Nick has been getting KILLED by Disney Channel for a while now. Maybe Nick should take a page out of their playbook!
actually, that’s completely false. The Disney machine knows how to promote itself but if you actually look at ratings and marketshare, Nick is consistently ahead by almost double digits.
Great executive, even better person. She knows how to rock.
Tracy is the best exec in town. Whoever gets her next is so lucky!!
Robbie — Nick is beating Disney year-to-date +14% in kids and +3% in teens. How is that “getting KILLED?”
yes but isn’t that all thanks to Dan Schneider who has been working at the network since well before Tracy got started there? iCarly can’t last forever
Well said, Robbie D. Since Tracy joined Nick, the network has suffered a serious decline.
To those who’ve worked with Tracy, Nick’s demise is no surprise. She’s a clicque-ish “too-cool-for-school” exec with terrible taste. And she’d always buy from her friends over other promising writers in town.
I’m sure now that one of her close friends like Sue Naegle will take care of her.
But those who know are aware that Tracy has never succeeded in any development job in town…
Cartoon Net and Nick have made the same stupid mistake… believing that hiring PrimeTime execs with no history is Kids TV somehow equals creative magic. Disney Channel is full of execs who’ve spent their entire professional lives researching and learning about how kids and families watch TV.
There is NO magic happening in Prime Time TV that needs to be emulated in KIDS TV. Period. Hire someone who knows what they are doing, or for once promote one of the many long-term grunt execs at Nick that keep getting passed over for these awful “sexy” hires.

Tracy is great, lots of energy and enthusiasm and anyone would be lucky to have her.
All the Negative comments must be written by Adam Bonnet who is so jealous of Tracy…Adam has NO Autonomy whatsoever and Tracy had almost complete freedom because Margie Knew how talented she was..
Working with Tracy is always a positive experience. She has great taste, an incredible work ethic, and the team there will struggle to replace her, though she will do amazing well wherever she decides to go.
Absolutely no one smarter or more pleasant to deal with. Losing Ttacy from Nick is a bummer.
who cares about kids programming?
Tracy is the best friend a writer can have. She respects talent and protects a vision.
Go Top Kat,
Jim
On a scale of executives from 1-10, Adam Bonnett is the 1. And that’s being generous. He wakes every day to the same mantra, “how can I fuck over my talent today?” So Tracy has an easy bar to hurdle there. She also has cultivated a great set of friends over time, from Ms. Naegle to Ms. Berman, along with hanging with a great cadre of writers. . I’m not nuts about her personally, but that’s what you want in a development exec.
Promote Nikki Lando, she’s the future!
Wow. People must really know Adam. I thought he fooled everyone…..
Tracy was a terible executive at Nick. She smiled and said what you wanted to hear and she perpetuated the idea that she had great taste by talking about Malcolm in the Middle. But what did she do there? Nothing. None of her shows got any traction and she developed over 30 scripts last year. Margie is the creatiev force there. And Brian and Jenna are the talent. Not Tracy.
