He is arguably the best actor on the ATP Tour with his spot-on impersonations. Now world’s No. 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic is set to make his professional acting debut with a cameo in The Expendables 2. Djokovic has already arrived in Bulgaria, where the sequel is filming. The tennis champion will play himself in the movie after getting an invitation from producer Avi Lerner. Djokovic, who won three of the four tennis Grand Slams this year during one of the best tennis seasons on record, is as well known for showmanship as he is for his tennis skills. Earlier this year, he filmed a parody of tennis player Maria Sharapova’s Head commercial, prompting the tennis equipment manufacturer to make a new commercial featuring both Djokovic as the Russian beauty and Sharapova herself. Below is a clip from the 2007 U.S. Open, where Djokovic was asked to do a couple of impersonations of fellow tennis players.

Pretty comical stuff, anyway, look forward to seeing the film which I believe will be fun to watch and I suppose Novak could pull off a nice cameo if he gets remotely good material to work with. Best of luck Nole.

I find him hilarious. It’s lighthearted and funny as hell. It’s a sport people not the Middle East peace talks so lighten up.
Love the guy, but ‘cameo’ implies audiences will immediately recognize him.
Put this guy next to any bad guy in the Bourne series and I’d have a tough time picking him out.

This guy is a disrespectful, cocky, injury-faking douche. Bounces the ball a million times before serving before instantly tossing it in the air, whines about calls to catch his breath, fist pumps on his opponents’ mistakes… but he has mastered saying all the right things when he’s interviewed. Hmmm… he’s perfect for Hollywood.

I love this news. Novak is an absolute showman and a great ambassador for tennis. A true class act and fine example of what good sportsmanship is about. His mocking the other players was all in jest, anybody who thinks otherwise is stuck in the dark ages of wooden rackets.
on topic…it was kinda sceptical when i heard Djokovic will do cameo in EX2, cuz when is the last time you heard a tennis player did a cameo in anything, except maybe in a tennis movie. i hope its gonna be some funny cameo, cuz it would go with his personality.
off topic…i dont know why ppl say he is a jerk cuz he is making funny of his co-players. did you heard that anyone from them said publicly it bothers them. if you look at the tennis as a sport in which you pretty much have top 20-30 players playing on same tournaments all the time, they are all buddies. they are like a class, some of them are good friends, some are just ok, some are the wierd ones that dont talk with anyone.
i think i heard is some interview of a tennis player from my country that was in top 10 few times about whats going on in the locker rooms during tournaments. they are jerking eachother all the time. if i remember good, i think Djokovic after taking a shower hide in a Federers locker fully naked, Federer just finished the match and imagine his face when he opened the locker
tennis is not a boxing, where they trashing eachother before every match….
