EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures has acquired The Likeness, the Tana French novel that will be adapted by Stephanie Savage. She and Fake Empire partner Josh Schwartz will produce, and they acquired the book through the discretionary fund that’s part of their first look deal at Paramount. The novel is about a young female detective who goes undercover to solve a murder in an elite college town. The detective wants to discover the truth, but she finds this new world to be quite seductive.
The Likeness is a sequel to French’s 2008 novel In The Woods, which the studio has also acquired. Since forming Fake Empire at Paramount, Schwartz and Savage have set up five projects, with their first film, the Schwartz-directed Fun Size, to be released in late 2012. The author is repped by APA and lit agent Darley Anderson and the Fake Empire partners are WME-repped.

I’m very surprised, considering APA lost their “top literary agent,” David Boxerbaum.
How will they survive?
I guess Chris Ridenhour’s supposed to save their lit dept? Good luck with that. You guys were almost a real agency there for a second.
I really hope they make “In the Woods.” Just one of the most compelling mysteries in recent memory. Not to suggest it reinvents the wheel with the actual tale, but the writing is so bad ass you can’t put it down.
I was happy about the news, but then I saw who’s writing. French has more writing talent in her pinky than Stephanie Savage does.
I absolutely LOVE Tana French’s novels. I’m very surprised they picked The Likeness to adapt, though. To me, it has the most abstract concepts compared to the other books. I hope it turns out well!
THE MOST TOXIC WOMAN IN TELEVISION!!!!!!!!!
She is not a nice person. But luckily she’s a really untalented writer.
Wait, so who is writing this? Not the producer, right?
She is a writer now? Cool!
Good things happen to mean people.
I hope this whole karma thing is true. Of so, Savage has a lot of karma coming her way.
Savage is the hardest working, coolest producer around–these people feel like writers who couldn’t cut it on a show or are jealous or something. She has many fans out there, more than you guys do I’m sure!
Uh, she looks kinda bitchy from that picture
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Stephanie Savage multiple times.
She’s a good egg and I love her…same with Josh Schwartz.
Simmer down Bitter Pills…sorry if she had to fire your talent-less asses.
TRUE DAT. She’s sad, toxic, and unhappy, finally someone speaks the truth instead of sucking up to the dysfunction.
Great novel. Just hope the don’t fuck it up (too much) on the screen.
