With 2 Oscar winners, Chris Cooper and Diane Wiest, already cast as the leads, this was a no-brainer, but it’s now official: HBO’s drama pilot The Corrections is proceeding to production. The Noah Baumbach/Scott Rudin project, based on Jonathan Franzen’s book, revolves around the troubles of an elderly Midwestern couple (Cooper and Wiest), and their three adult children as they trace their lives from the mid-20th century to “one last Christmas” together near the turn of the millennium. Baumbach and Franzen co-wrote the adaptation, with Baumbach set to direct the pilot. The two are executive producing with Rudin.

wonder if baumbach is gonna find another actress to cheat on his pregnant wife wife?
Don’t think this is relevant to the project and a mean spirited comment to make anonymously on the internet. The script is incredible and many thought an adaptation would be impossible.
MAN, I love this cast already.
Finally something to get excited about at HBO besides Enlightened.
Yeah Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones have been real big misses with critics and audiences.
Oh, god. Noah Baumbach. He is awful. This looks like another in a steady line of pretentious, boring unwatchable product that is now the HBO programming of choice.
I could watch either of those actors read the phone book. Can’t wait!
I don’t think they are elderly.
