ABC’s CMA Awards (4.8/12 in adults 18-49, 16.3 million viewers) was unshaped last night by going head-to-head with another music performance program, Fox’s The X Factor. The CMA Awards were actually up a tenth (2%) in 18-49 from last year to hand ABC a nightly win in 18-49 and total viewers. X Factor (3.7/10, 10.1 million) posted a 5% decline from its fast national last week. CBS’ lineup also was pushed down by the country awards show. Survivor (3.1/9, 10.6 million) was the hardest hit, down 11% in the demo from its fast national last Wednesday, when the veteran reality show was adjusted up in the finals to a season high. Criminal Minds (3.4/8, 11.3 million) was down 6%, CSI (2.5/7, 10.1 million) down 7%. NBC’s rookie Up All Night (1.8/5, 4.8 million) was even with its series low last week, while veteran Law & Order: SVU (1.9/5, 6.6 million) was down 5% to a series low. But the series that bridges them, Harry’s Law (1.3/3, 7.1 million), climbed 18% to match its season high. Will that help the sophomore clinch a back episodic order? The legal dramedy was once again the most-watched program on NBC.

I hope NBC finally realizes and picks up the back nine for Harry’s Law. Best show on NBC.
i think it’s mezzo-mezzo. The only shows I love on NBC is GRIMM (and The Voice. awake looks good too). surprised GRIMM has not gotten back-9 yet. they should have a little more faith in the ONE show they debuted that is doing great. i like it more than OUAT but on par w SPN.
Grimm is just a cop procedural. Once Upon a Time is more original, has better writing, better actors and special effects.
What the heck happened to country music? Might as well put a cut-out of that blond and just leave it on stage. Where are the great songs ie; Here You Come Again by Dolly Parton comes to mind or Southern Nights by Glen Campbell? It’s time for great songs to make it back into this world of country music.

Last night, I also was thinking about how I’d like to see Dolly on stage. I was kind of upset that they stuck the Glen Campbell tribute in towards the end and that they didn’t perform more of his songs. When Glen got up on stage they gave him a guitar, he pulls a pick from his pocket, strums a few then they cut to commercial. When they came back it was just Brad & Carrie again.
Glen has alzheimer’s. They gave him the guitar just out of kindness.
I totally agree with jasin regarding “Harry’s Law”. If nbc is smart( & that is a big if considering their past decisions) they would not only give “Harry’s Law” the rest of this season, but, renew it for a full season 4 next year as well. This program is consistently funny, smart, & very entertaining-it is the only show I watch on nbc. If nbc were to cancel this show- I would never sample an nbc program ever again, not ever!!! Thank you.
The CMA show is very entertaining and all is performed live with no lip synching. Last night’s awards was fabulous and funny. Though, I don’t know what was up with Nicole Kidman’s hair; very bad. Lionel Richie has the smoothest beautiful voice; he was a super treat and he has a country album coming out. The Glen Campbell tribute almost had me crying. Glen looked great. Wow!
I hate to bash a network when in free fall, so I won’t do it.
But, I wonder if NBC and Dick Wolf are now rethinking and realizing that Law & Order:SVU was indeed a very much character driven show, unlike the rest of the “Orders” and very much so build on Christopher Meloni’s and Mariska Hartigay’s characters. That 1.9 in the 18-49 demo has to hurt more than anything else on the entire NBC line up.
I fell in love with Harry’s Law when it debuted last year, it was a breath of fresh air . . . BUT as much as I loved it last year I absolutely HATE the new season. It is nothing close to the original show, has turned into just another show about lawyers. I watched the first 3 episodes this year and have written it off as a waste of time. I personally hope it does not get renewed and maybe another show worthy of the time slot will take its place.
