ReelzChannel, which entered original programming earlier this year with the high-profile acquisition of the miniseries The Kennedys, has acquired its first original scripted series — drama True Justice starring action movie star-turned-TV reality star Steven Seagal. The series, slated for a March 2012 launch, stars Seagal as Elijah Kane who leads a hardcore undercover team of Seattle based cops who take on gangs, drug lords and crime syndicates as they fight to clean up the streets. Seagal, Nicolas Chartier and Phillip B. Goldfine are executive producing, with Keoni Waxman serving as co-executive producer and director. Sojo Prods. and Voltage Pictures are producing in association with Steamroller Prods. ReelzChannel will be the U.S. distributor of the 13-episode series, which was independently produced. Internationally, it has aired on Nitro in Spain and digital channel 5USA in the UK.

Is this really an order for a nrw show, or the aquisition of an independently produced one? Because a Show of the same title and description allready exists and has been released on DVD. (It just was announced for AXN in Germany).
This is the project from 2010? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKimrTP7aH8
Sounds totally fascist and ridiculous. I liked the Shield more. It was probably more realistic.
I really like how they’re saying they “picked” this show up like it was just a script floating around with Seagal attached to it. This has been in the can for years now. I figured Reelz or Cinemax was going to pick this up at some point. I’m glad Reelz is getting into the scripted game. I’m just interested to see what night Reelz picks to launch original programming.
This is older than the moon and just as creaky.
That is one gooey neck.
If it’s going to cop show the standards are pretty high. With exception of all those bland crime procedurals on broadcast.
As an action show the notable one is Human Target season 1. As for it second season quality dove when another showrunner was brought into revamp the show which only had minor flaws.
If it’s anything like the Seagal films last decade. I won’t even bother.
Steven Seagal = Awesome.
For those movie action fans out there: FYI Seagal is the real thing.
Seagal has a high ranking from Japan in martial arts and they just don’t give those out like they do in the U.S. He’s also trained caged fighting champions, made them squeal and threw them around the ring.
We’ve all heard stories of some action stars needing body guards in real life because people are always challenging them. I feel sorry for any idiot who challenges Steven Seagal. You might as well as volunteer as a punching bag. lol
Good to hear Stephen Seagal is still alive.
I thought they buried him in reality TV.
Obviously, he had been buried alive.
It better be widescreen to fit that fat ass Seagal on the TV.
That entire season is already available on DVD here in Australia. The eps were pasted together and sold as DTV “movies” prior to that release.
It’s starting airing on dec 8 on 13ème Rue (universal) in France. Seagal’s tour with the journalists to promote his series was apparently hit and miss. Some journalists got answers,, others got laconic nods. There’s a video where at one point you can hear someone snickering in the background after Seagal goes for another short answer. And apparently, it’s not him doing the stunts anymore, so disappointing ! (I posted the link the website url, so you can check it out, cause that’s too hilarious) : http://www.allocine.fr/video/emissions/tueurs-en-series/episode/?cmedia=19258222
As always, thanks for the warning well in advance. I wouldn’t want to inadvertantly stumble upon another revolting piece of TV dreck and irrevocably soil my consciousness. It’s an utter mystery how this “action-hero” Seagal manages to maintain popularity with his decades of r-e-a-l-l-y bad acting and disgusting, violent “art”.
For God’s sake, people, have you no entertainment ‘standards’ whatsoever? …..Wait…this is America….SILLY QUESTION!
What a terrible first series for REELZ to attach themselves to.
And as others have mentioned they should have never said this was a “new” original series – makes the network look cheesy.
Yes, I admit Steven’s original smash hit movies were great; and then it seems to go down hill from there with all his direct-to-dvd films.
Either way, the man DOES have talent. He’s getting older, (aren’t we ALL). Heck, Even Capt. Kirk got involved in tv series, why can’t Steven? I have EVERY film of Steven Seagal. I’m not proud of his sexual prowness. Find one woman & stick with her. The sexual lawsuits that were against him HAD to be true (bearing considerations that he can’t control his female desires)!
Either way, I still like him!
Bring back Hard to Kill, Under Siege and Nico please. That Steven Seagal was impenetrable. This guy is a fake.
I watched the interviews and previews of Steven Seagal on the program’s intent. It fails miserably on what he says and what actually transpires in the show. He kept saying that he wanted as close to reality as possible but, after reading statistics on career police officers at 25+ years of service 99% say they never fired their weapon in the line of duty except to qualify on the range. Of the 1% that did, not all killed the person they were shooting at. The only thing he moves during the show is his hands and He could be the poster boy for the “supersize it” documentary ….. In his day he may have been s body to reckon with ….not now. This seems like a last ditch attempt to score on his name alone. I’m sorry for all you fans out there …. it just ain’t going to happen …not now …not ever. I love Clint Eastwood as “Dirty Harry” but I respect him more for the roles, as director, he has cast himself in as realistic for his age and physical condition. Can it before it mutates and he explodes from one too many “Big Macs”
