Relativity Media’s Snow White movie now has a title. Mirror Mirror, described as a comedy action adventure that stars Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, Julia Roberts, Nathan Lane and Sean Bean, will be released March 16, 2012. That puts it well ahead of Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, which opens June 1 and looks more like The Lord of the Rings than a light fairy tale.

Horrible title.
Relativity already lost the game before it was played with Ryan Kavanaugh at the helm making mistake after mistake. Not only that, Relativity doesn’t get the distinction of using Snow White in the title. The expensive bombing of Immortals is only a week away.
Is it terrible if I hope this movie bombs, regardless of whether it is good or not, because I dislike Ryan Kavanaugh and his way of conducting business so much?
Man I hope this fairy tale genre is dead soon. it’s all over TV, it’ll be all over the movie screens next year. not good. the end
Sneaky, sneaky…trying to get this one out ahead of the one. Don’t get me wrong, Tarsem Singh is a genius and the design on Mirror, Mirror looks incredible. But Hunstman looks to be so much better ie incredibly Lord of the Rings-esque….more epic and exciting, and a far more well-known and likable cast. I just hope that MM moving up its release doesn’t impact the financial success of SW&TH. I recall hearing that the latter is meant to be a 3 part franchise, so hopefully it’ll do really well, no matter the competition.
I think they made a mistake not using Snow White in the title. Snow White is the name that would attract people to the box office. Plus I bet the makers of SWATH are very glad as this one is coming out first but not using a similar title. Had they used a similar title, it would have been more of a problem for the one coming out second, which is SWATH.
i like it. it ties in with the mirror aspect of the story.
Was that photo released by the studio? It looks terrible! The colors are like puke and they both look like they need a good shower. I’m not sure why they would release that photo or better question is why would they select those colors for those really ugly costumes? And red hair for the queen? I don’t know. Maybe i’m just being overly critical. Not interested.
Tarsem is a brilliant film maker, and this is exactly the sort of film to showcase his talent.
What a dumb choice of leaving Snow White out of the title & have to spend extra millions to tell ppl this is a Snow White movie.
I love the look & feel of the Universal Snow White & The Huntsman, but fear that is a more beautiful & niche product unless it comes out Lord of the Ring like.
Mirror, Mirror is the title of Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel based on Snow White. Why doesn’t Relativity make a version of The Wizard of Oz and call it Wicked?
This whole project was a rush job, from what I heard. Which is surprising, considering how Tarsem works. Also, I read the Vulture article with the screenwriter and he came off like such a dick. He was basically touting his own script when the only other film he had scripted was Machine Gun Preacher. He also said the film was basically greenlit for the sole purpose of attempting to beat Universal. I couldn’t believe he said that stuff on the record. Meanwhile, Hossein effing Amini went in and did a re-write of the other Snow White movie for Universal. I mean, to try and compare yourself to Amini takes a hell of a lot of ego. Anyway, I’ve heard stories some real horror stories about working at Relativity so I’m interested to see how this whole competition pans out.
Hey, it’s all good. For Disney.
