  • Not happy about the spider man casting.

    • Peter Parker WAS socially awkward, but he wasn’t an ugly midget like Tobey Maguire. He was a good-looking if not insecure kid who grew into himself. Andrew Garfield embodies that ten times more than Maguire. And yes, I’m perfectly willing to base that off a teaser trailer. T-Mag was horrible.

  • Before this episode of SNL I wanted to see the Spider-man movie.
    Now, not so much.

  • I know it was a joke but even dancing around the penn state scandal was as tasteless as doing a spousal abuse joke when rhianna was the musical act a year or so ago. Though I think most if the snl performers are pretty damn funny however 90% of the writing and the decisions to put the aforementioned sketches on air is just awfule.

  • Samberg has jumped the perverberal shark with his digital shorts and is now officially unfunny.

  • Yea…the child abuse sex scandal may still be a little to fresh for jokes. I lasted through Weekend Update, and couldn’t find a reason to keep watching.

    • Agreed. Emma Stone was good in each skit, but the skits themselves were lame.

The majority of them were recurring situations/characters centered around predictable one-note jokes. The only recurring character that’s still entertaining is Stefon. I much prefer the SNL skits where they try something new.

Also, they really need to get someone else on Weekend Update. Seth Meyers just can’t carry it alone.

  • Emma Stone’s monologue was so completely awful.
The entire segment was so nails-against-a-chalkboard bad that ANY interest I had in seeing Spider-Man is completely and utterly gone. I just can’t believe that Garfield and Stone are the leads in ANY movie.
    I can’t believe what I just viewed.
    Just so totally, totally awful…

  • I agree, Tobey Maguire was perfect as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man. Andrew doesn’t seem to have the chops to replace Maguire. Not to mention this being a not needed reboot. Sony should have made it work with Rami and Maguire. Hope this movie flops for Sony

Comment by Farzan — Monday November 14, 2011 @ 7:01am PST  Reply to this post
  • When I watched Emma and Andrew together on stage all I could see was the complete lack of chemistry; they seemed to be allergic to each other. And speaking of Andrew Garfield – the young actor who was on Gossip Girl and now Revenge is a dead ringer for him but without the emotional depth.
