UPDATE 10 AM: I have now learned that it was a contractor hired by The Expendables crew to trim the shrubbery in front of Bulgaria’s Devetashka Cave that was fined and not the production itself. As for the movie’s producers, I hear they are taking the environmental concerns seriously and met today with representatives of local environmental organizations. Word is that the sequel has gotten their blessing to start filming at the cave and the shoot is not expected to harm the bat colony living inside.
PREVIOUS 1AM: Following a fatal accident during the filming of a stunt last month, the production of The Expendables 2 has once again run afoul of authorities in Bulgaria, this time over damages to a cave that has a status of a natural monument. Bulgaria’s environmental protection agency has fined the Hollywood production for unlawfully r
emoving shrubs and small trees from the entrance to the local Devetashka Cave, according to Bulgarian news reports. The size of the fine is yet to be determined and will be in the 500-5,000 BG Leva range ($343-$3,440). Despite obtaining necessary permits for the elaborate shoot that involves building sets — including a bridge to the cave — the production is raising concerns among local environmentalists who fear that it may permanently damage the habitat that houses some 40 endangered species as well as one of the top three bat colonies in Europe. To avoid disturbing the bats, the producers have promised to refrain from explosions, car chases and fires in close proximity to the cave.

You have three greedy producers in Sylvester Stallone, Avi Lerner and Kevin King Templeton who don’t care about the loss of Human life in the case of the stuntman who dies and the others injured, or the compromise and killing of the natural habitat.
It’s a shame that people like this get to make the business and the rules of the game inapplicable to them.
Saying they don’t care about the loss of human life is a bit too much. They might be greedy but not evil.
You are just jealous!!!
Perhaps a bat will bite Stallone on the ass, and we’ll get to see CONTAGION PART 2!!!
and you KNOW that “they don’t care about the loss Human life”…
you have the inside track on that, huh?
Total agreement with the comment from Michael. The arrogrance of the aforementioned has been on display since Rocky took to the steps in Philadelphia. Jesus I wish these people would just hang it up and stop their obnoxious destructive behavior.
bettheduck
WE know it’s Avi Lerner but putting the NAME of the production company would be a great addition to this article.
michael…couldn’t have said it better. Stallone’s been sued on every movie he ever did all the way back to “Rocky” where he stole the rights to the life story of the boxer it was based on. Stallone’s desperate. He’s no longer physically attractive, and hasn’t aged well. If anything, he’s just too old to even be on camera.it’s this desperation that causes a complete disregard for life…human or otherwise. Fortunately, his career is almost over anyway.
I’m hoping this sh_t production bombs at the box office…but it probably won’t
I’m psyched, all this death and destruction is going to make for one kickass flick… I’ll buy enough tickets to make up for all of you crybabies.
I agree with Dave, what’s up with you crybabies? get a life. there’s way more important things to do than to comment on celeb gossip. man’s trying to make a living don’t be jealous!
