EXCLUSIVE: In a match that seems ideal, Tim Burton is in early talks to come aboard Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, the Ransom Riggs novel that 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment acquired last spring. Burton is in talks to develop the book as a potential directing project, and he would be involved in setting a writer to adapt the tale.
It involves Jacob, a 16-year-old whose childhood was filled with stories his grandfather told him about an orphanage for unusual children. Among the residents: a girl who could hold fire in her hands, another whose feet never touched the ground, and twins who communicated without speaking. When his beloved grandfather dies unexpectedly but leaves a message behind for his grandson, the teen heads off to his grandfather’s home on an isolated island off Wales. There he discovers the abandoned remains of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. It is in great disrepair and as Jacob explores its bedrooms and hallways, he can see the children were more than peculiar, they might have been there because they were dangerous. And he can’t shake the feeling they are still lurking around. Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping are producing. The WME-repped Burton has wrapped Dark Shadows for Warner Bros with Johnny Depp, and directed the feature-length version of his short film Frankenweenie by Disney. Burton also produced the Timur Bekmambetov-directed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for Fox.

I absolutely loved this very peculiar book and think Tim Burton would do an amazing job. And as for Helena, I think she would make an excellent Miss Peregrine…
Right!!!! I so agree!!!!!!! I dont want him to ruin the book
Please make a gilm for this book.
Funny how his wife does star in some major role in most of his films. I wonder if he’ll cast her as miss peregrine. Lol at least she’s a good actress. Tim button movies almost always have a blond girl and Helena bonham carter.lol
Tim Burton is a true VISIONARY! I think he is just misunderstood by many people. This is the perfect movie for him because the book was dark and many of his movies are dark, so its all good.
Tim Burton is an inspirational director who has earned respect throughout his career. To disreguard all the amazing work he has done isn’t just. I feel as iff he would be a perfect match for this book. I am sure he will do incredible things with it.
the first time i read this book i got really scared. After i finished reading it though i realized it wasnt that scary it was more or less creepy in a way i guess
home for peculiar children is a really good book if is turned into a movie i want it to be a horror movie not some cheap kiddie movie i think i would be ticked if it was xD
I love “Miss Peregrine’s home for Peculiar Children” it’s a good page turner
to me its realky suspenseful and if Mr. Tim Burton is making it into a film I can’t wait!!
Tim Burton is perhaps one of the best directors in Hollywood. Yes, he may not have had the best successes ( money makers, other than “Alice”)in the movie industry but, he certainly is brilliant, original and wildly imaginable.
When I first picked up Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, I was imagining how this could be made into a movie, picturing scenes, finding actors for voices and creating a color palate. The whole time imagining that Tim Burton would be green lighted to do this project . Looking forward to another brilliant film by Tim Burton.
My opinion : the best movies he did was when he was younger…he had all thèse great ideas being à tourmented boy stuck in suburban life, then being à young man stuck at Disney…and now he is happy with helena bonham carter and children and doesn t have as much inspiration…but that s just my theory…personnally i liked all his movies for different reasons…
I’m so excited they are making this into a movie!! Especially since Tim Burton is involved. He will do it justice. Great book.
Tim Burton will do amazing with it. However the description of the book is a little off at the end. Hope it was just a huge typo and if made into a movie it isn’t changed to seem as though the children are dangerous.
I loved this book more than anything I hope this movie isn’t made into something for little kids I’d die if it was anima let’s hope for the best!! Any news on the release date?
Randy Riggs is an enormous talent and a fantastic guy to boot. Tim Burton would be fortunate to take on this project!
