The clock has started on 24, the feature version of the Imagine Entertainment/Fox series. The project brings back Kiefer Sutherland’s tireless government operative Jack Bauer.
Mark Bomback — a favorite writer at 20th Century Fox writing The Wolverine and Shadow Divers – is doing some last minute tweaking of Billy Ray’s script, and will turn it in by year’s end. Imagine and the studio have about five directors in mind — no, Tony Scott is not attached anymore — and it will all begin happening very quickly in the early part of next year. The goal is to get the film into production to match Sutherland’s availability, which begins in April. That should give producer Brian Grazer something to do after he completes producing the Academy Awards, and it is certainly good news for fans of the show who were beginning to fear the project wouldn’t happen.

I’m a fan of the show who doesn’t want this project to happen.
Then your not a true 24 fan, in fact i believe there was no bad season in 24 except 6 which as abit off Jack Bauer will always be a big time hero
Even six wasn’t that terrible. The first 16-17 episodes were amazing, they screwed it up when they went from multiple nuclear bombs to Jack’s daddy doesn’t love him anymore.
It’s because he outgrew his Jack Bauer underwear.
I hope they only make this movie if the script is good and they hopefully conclude the 24 franchise. I hope Kiefer Sutherland will do more mainstream movies from now on, tries to reach his full potential as an actor and tries to win an Oscar.
Cant wait !
they fast-track a movie of this exhausted, tired show (that completely over-stayed its welcome and was ludicrous by the end) and yet the Arrested Development movie keeps getting pushed and pushed? “Great” move, Fox. Way to be in touch with your fans.
Fast track? Two long years after the show ended is a fast track? Where?
There’s been nothing ‘fast tracked’ about this at all. And it was never ‘tired’…was still one of the best shows on TV when it went off. And Fox IS in touch with fans because some of us 24 fans have been clamoring for this since the 3rd season or so…Great news.
So they canceled Arrested Development because of it’s high ratings, right?
Is going to be called 2, or 1.53? Wasn’t the original concept all about real time?
Nay, nay! I’m sure they are planning this movie and eleven sequels, with each being two hours long of course. (*_*)
24 is so 2005.
And your comment is so 2004.
I CAN’T WAIT for this movie.
Even at its most predictable and recycled (look it’s another mole in CTU!), 24 is/was more entertaining and exciting than 99% of what’s currently on TV.
Being able to see Sutherland again, relaunching Jack on the big-screen — absolutely, bring it on.
Keifer will get that Oscar around the same time Herman Cain is sworn in as president
Thank goodness! I love 24 but the series ended on a low note for Jack. I hope Elisha Cuthbert is in this movie because I really loved Kim (and never understood why people disliked Kim).
This movie is going to bomb….we’ve moved on. Don’t care.
Bomb? There’s a bomb! WHERE IS IT? There isn’t any time. Tell me now!
Make the call!
Who does he torture this time?
how does the feature version work? will it be 24 hours long?
I hope so! That would rock.
This is good news, except it isn’t the first time they say the project is really starting… I’ll believe it when it comes out. I’m still curious to see the details of the script and if Carlos Bernard will be in it, as he is my favorite character.
Two storylines I would be equally happy to see for the movie: the Drazen mission (many of the best characters would then be featured: Nina, Saunders, Palmer, Tony, etc.) or a sequel story that would tie up the loose end that is Tony’s season 7 arc.
How can Tony be your favourite character anymore? If the movie takes place between day 5 and day 7 maybe, but not if it’s after that.
I am so happy that this is finally happening!!! They better write an awesome script for Kiefer. He and the show deserve it. Can hardly wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait for this movie! I’m a huge Sutherland fan. Amazing show, great family genes.
i just don’t know anyone who has the time or patience to sit in the movie theater for a full day watching this movie …
I would be there for the midnight…to midnight showing.
I’d be there with you – a 2 hour movie is better than nothing, but still not enough. I miss this show sooooooo much!
What if there’s a mole in CTU?
I completely agreed that this is a very bad move by fox by waiting over a year and losing some of there fans… But on the other hand I lobe 24 it was probably my fav show ever I laughed I cried it made me happy and so I am very excited about this movie I think I will always love 24… Oh and they better bring Tony back he was the absolute best
I agree Tony is the best
Fu** the trolls and naysayers! Bring on more Jack Bauer! Disappointed that Tony Scott’s not on board in full-on “Man on Fire” mode (a visual tour-de-force that he’s scaled way back on in his recent flicks) but excited nonetheless! May I suggest Wayne Kramer as director? Go back and check out “Running Scared.” Super-kinetic visual style. And bring back Tony Almeida as the bad guy. DAMMIT CHLOE!!!!!!!
You haters are nuts, HUGE audiences ready for this film, the results will speak for themselves. Hell if Bruce Willis can still do Die Hards….there’ll be an audience for this
Didn’t people say the same thing about the last X-Files movie.
I liked the last X files movie. Completely marketed wrong but very underrated. Billy Connolly playing against type, someone as annoying as Amanda Peet’s character dying. Loved it.
All I can say is:
Bring Renee Walker back (alive of course) in the movie DAMNIT!
Yes! Agent Renee Walker must alive and packin’ heat in’24′ the movie (Is there a working title for this movie?)
Not a single movie of 24 hrs length. 12 movies of 2hrs each, one every month for a year! You don’t know Jack unless you love 24.
The movie, according to none other than Kiefer Sutherland, will not be in real-time but rather a twenty-four hour day condensed to a two-hour-plus movie, which I have no problem with personally, as it could still have considerable suspense and tension if handled properly, whilst allowing the storyline for Jack to move around more freely without having to account for every minute of time.
The television movie ’24: Redemption’ certainly proved you can do a ’24′ movie outside of the U.S. and with no CTU or Chloe in it, and still be unmistakably ’24′ in it’s character, so I’m stoked about this movie.
They should hire series regular director Jon Cassar to helm the movie – nobody directs a better ’24′ story than he – and they should wrap the whole ’24′ saga up with this movie and end it on a high note…
Second the Wayne Kramer choice. Running Scared had that intense ‘clock is ticking’ energy and pacing. And great style. This movie needs someone who can bring the craft of filmmaking to it.
I agree that Jon Cassar should direct this movie. He proved time and time again that he has an fantastic eye for action even on a TV Budget and knows how to get good performances out of the cast.
