ABC has given Castle an order for one additional episode, bringing its fourth season to 23 episodes. The quirky detective drama starring Nathan Fillion has been a slow builder but was able to branch out of an early cult status to become a solid performer in the Monday 10 PM slot. Besides the first season, which launched in midseason, all seasons of Castle have been supersized. Season 2 and 3 consisted of 24 episodes each. Word is one more is all ABC needed this season. The network’s flagship series, comedy Modern Family, already has an order for 24 episodes.

Show is performing well and unlike Pan Am, is deserving of an extra episode or two. Hell, Sony and ABC were fighting just to give Pan Am that one extra episode.

Andrew Marlowe said he only wanted to do one extra instead of two this year so it was at his request. If they do two, it gives the writers only one week off between seasons apparently. I guess he wanted them to have that extra time to recharge. If he’d been open to it, I bet ABC would’ve done 24 episodes again.

Nathan is adorable as Castle. The most charismatic guy these days on TV. He and Stana make a lovable couple..
only complaint is reduce the bronzer on their faces. Its way too much. Just like in csi miami! Look at the first reason of Castle they were normal now its way over the top!

Just watched the episode where the leads are handcuffed together in a locked room. Very well done with the acting and the writing. Scary, too! I started watching the show two months ago and look forward to every episode.
Great sleeper of a show. Wish ABC would publicize it more. Katic and Fillion’s chemistry unmatched. Stana Katic’s dramatic episodes this season have been beyond outstanding.
