Tim Allen is indeed TV’s last man standing this fall. Allen’s Last Man Standing series, which has received a full-season pickup, is the only one of the three new fall comedies centered on guys to still be on the air after ABC today pulled its companion Man Up!. Effective next Tuesday, the network will air reruns of Last Man Standing in the 8:30 PM slot just like NBC runs repeats of Up All Night at 8:30 PM on Wednesdays following the cancellation of Free Agents. Today’s move by ABC, which comes on the heels of Man Up! posting another series low on Tuesday, only hastens the exit of the comedy, which had already been canceled after the network opted not to order additional episodes beyond the original 13-episode order and left the series off its midseason schedule. It is reminiscent of the early pullout of the other new “guy” series, CBS’ How To Be A Gentleman. Both Gentleman and Man Up! were created by actors (David Hornsby and Chris Moynihan, respectively) as starring vehicles for themselves. Eight episode of Man Up! have aired. It is unclear when the remaining five will run as a burnoff.

This actually makes me sad. It wasn’t the greatest show but I found myself laughing like an idiot during it.
Hell yeah !!! Now Work it has a slot, I’ve been waiting so long for this brilliant hilarious comedy to air.
It’s so original and fresh, I predict at least a 4.0 average in the 18-49 demo, 3 Emmy Nominations (bye bye Overhyped Modern Family) and a bigger Internet cult following than Arrested Development. Yes you heard right, it’s gonna have success in both tv ratings and internet fanboyism.
This is gonna be better than IASIP and Community, MARK MY WORDS !!! The world will get a new best sitcom soon. So excited !!!!!
I really hope I’m just inept at picking up on sarcasm. If you’re serious about it being “original” I just, have no faith in humanity.
You must be a troll, because “Work It” is not going to work anything but dig itself a hole to die in.
Better than Community, seriously? lol
This sucks! This show is one of the funniest new shows, actually forget that. This show is one of the funniest shows on TV. It’s original, it is hilarious week in and week out.
I admit I was luke-warm before seeing it, especially about the cast, but I was dead wrong. The casting was great and the writing is some of the best comedic writing on TV. I really hope ABC re-thinks this and gives it another shot.
And for the record, I know nobody involved with the show whatsoever
“Last Man Standing” is worse.
Now if they would cancel that last piece of s***,”Last man Standing”,they would have room for some solid, strong comedies…which so many of us are delighted are coming back. Tim Allen’s over the hill in his inability to update his comedy. Keeps the same people with him and it shows.
LMS is averaging a 2.6 and has the most viewers on Tuesday as a comedy ahead of glee and New Girl. ABC has long term plans for it too which is why they invested in it so much so it’s a good thing it’s helping them out a lot.
They should invest in some short term plans; laughs.
But Nellie, I thought you said this was The Year Of The TV Comedy.
I’m so happy someone said this. I totally agree. This was a funny show. RIP.
Yep. It sucks. One of the few shows that are actually funny. I guess it wasn’t marketed correctly? I don’t know. I feel like the right people never saw it. They should have played up the quirkiness more in the marketing rather than the guy aspect. Maybe? Or strengthened the female roles? Really funny cast and some funny writing. A shame.
Last Man Standing won’t get canceled due to ABC loving Tim Allen and the supposed success he brings to the network, which is nonsense. The concept of the show is ridiculous and isn’t even close to Allen’s glory days on HI…Man Up was history after a few episodes but ABC wanted to milk as much of the show as possible.
It really doesn’t matter what some people think, the show is working, expect to see more comedies like Last Man Standing, ABC has in the works Kristi Alley, Reba McEntire, and John Belushi comedies, so the true “family” comedy (ABC’s old TGIF) might just be making a come back, as opposed to the “other” type of comedies, no matter what you think.
It’s all about the numbers, not what a few people think of a show.
Not surprising but it had improved some over the first couple of episodes that likely killed it. Teri Polo needs to get on a good show.
LOL! Well, Get ready for ABC to axe “WORK IT” the 99 cents store rip off version of BOSOM BUDDIES they have been hawking, one weeks after airs in January.. I wonder who got that BJ to get it on the schedule. just saying
people remember bosom buddies like it was some work of art when it was really just the 99 cent version of milton berle and flip wilson’s schtick. watch it again and see why it only went 37 eps even with an ultra talented cast including one of the most talented actors of his generation. i haven’t seen work it, but i guarantee you it’s not gonna be much worse than bosom buddies in terms of the situation and writing. who knows, maybe it’ll surprise us. i’m not a huge ABC fan, but at least they’re taking a chance.
WORK IT looks like the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever seen. EVER.
Can NBC please un-shelve Community and put it on after Up All Night, instead of running repeats. I realize everything changes in January, but give it a shot. Or dump that ridiculous Whitney on Thursdays and put Community there. Stupid Comcast.
Last Man Standing should have been the one yanked, NOT Man Up!!!!
Why can’t the idiots in the programming dept figure out what the better program is?
I really was surprised by this show. Pretty funny with some great one liners. I just discovered this show last week. What a drag!!
Wow, this was a wicked funny show. What are they thinking!!!???
Terrible mistake, can’t believe this show is being pulled, Man Up had become one of my favorites. I stopped watching Last Man Standing after the first episode, I found it to be very urealistic…sucks!
I totally agree!!! This show had some great one liners and I would find myself laughing out load, by myself, and I’m a female. I don’t get it?? I only even knew about the show because I had it on after Last Man Standing (which sucks, btw). Bad marketing, I guess.
Need to bring Man Up back. Great and original. Think!!
