Really? J. Edgar and The Help both weren’t worthy.
Leo did not convince and the direction was limp.
The Help had an episodic script, bad accents, no clear protagonist and stereotypical caricatures.
I would have used their slots to put in “The Debt” and “Drive”
No Drive? No Boss? Ridiculous.
Eastwood grants AFI the honor of the J. Edgar premiere. AFI, in turn, puts J. Edgar on its list. Quid pro quo.
J. Edgar is a terrible movie.
Midnight in Paris, good luck Woody !
J Edgar ? Their kidding right…..
J. EDGAR and THE HELP, but no SHAME? Silly. And BRIDESMAIDS? Funny and entertaining, but MOTY-worthy?
parks and rec????
Wow. What a weak year if that’s the best they can do. J. Edgar, Bridesmaids, and The Help do not belong on this list.
No Boss or “The Debt”? .. bad omission.
If george clooney wins an award for the descendants you will be hearing screaming from hooksett, nh…He is charming in interviews but this is not an award worthy performance…either was up in the air. Fingers crossed for the Christmas releases.
Laughable and ridiculous as always. AFI, no one believes that The Help, Bridesmaids and the sickeningly sentimental War Horse are better films than Drive & The Ides of March, and Contagion, to a lesser degree. Shame? Carnage? Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy? Melancholia? Well, at least they included The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I would have thought they’d exclude that for sure.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is British so it can’t be picked for the AMERICAN Film Institute’s top 10 of the year.
At least Homeland is a winner in the eyes of the AFI…..it’s a great show and worth watching every single week.
Wow, Hollywood is really in its heyday. Surely I jest.
At least they discovered there were no Great films this year..J Edgar ?????The Help????At least Midnight in Paris made it-My son and wife conceived a baby during their trip to Paris this year!! Can’t wait for the last episode for season 2 of “Boardwalk Empire”, this is a great HBO series, fingers crossed for it! We will see. Hollywood needs new actors and actresses-bring it on.
Bridesmaids? Not funny unless you’re a 20something female. All of them at work LOVED it.
I’m sorry, but apparently no one who made the decision actually saw J EDGAR. I expected a lo0t from that film, but honestly, IT STUNK! I wanted to walk out and save myself further pain, but I chose to see if anything–anything at all–was going to happen. It didn’t. It was HORRIBLE!
Misspelled word…”I expected a LOT…,” not a loot. My apologies.
no problem, thought you were canadian…
How the heck can they snub Community? it is the best program on TV since NewsRadio.
Where’s Enlightened and Friday Night Lights?
AFI needs to stop embarrassing itself with these best of lists…
Amen.
The Artist is the Best Film of 2011 and Ranks up there as One of the best films of the last few decades IMHO.
Grand Torino had a message and J. Edgar had problems.
A so called artist doesn’t evaluate so as to win some award but Hollywood needs to give out awards to confirm the quality of their work which is sadly lame. A true artist knows the value of his/her work and no statue can define it.
Bilge, propaganda, porno, too pricey a product for this depressed economy/environment. Wait for the DVD if film is half good because none are really worth the money.
The audience poll of Hollywood channels the Political polls; dissatisfied with the incumbents. “Throw them all OUT”.
Exactly how many of the awards shows are there? Which one counts the most? Is it just me, or is this getting silly?
Bridesmaids? Are we supposed to take this seriously?
Parks and Rec? Really? I’ve never once laughed at that show. Sons of Anarchy is the best show on TV, not even considered. This entire thing is a joke.
I completely agree, Jamie…Sons of Anarchy is the BEST show on television – Parks and Rec??? Louie??? Seriously????
Hugo is movie of THE DECADE and no one seems to know it yet.
Lmao
