EXCLUSIVE: All My Children co-star Denise Vasi has been cast as a new lead on VH1′s hourlong comedy series Single Ladies. On the upcoming second season of the show executive produced by Queen Latifah, Vasi will star opposite co-leads LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea. She fills a void left by the departure of Stacey Dash after the end of the first season. Vasi will play the new role of Raquel, a close friend of Keisha (McCoy) who is a savvy business woman from a prominent Southern family on a quest to discover passion. “Denise is the perfect addition to the Single Ladies cast,” Queen Latifah said. “She is bringing a fun, new element to the show.” Single Ladies, VH1′s first hourlong scripted series, is a romantic comedy series about Keisha, Raquel and April (Shea) – best friends with different philosophies on love, sex and relationships, proving not all women have the same desires. The show , which averaged 2.8 million total viewers in its first season (for first 2 airings combined), will begin production on Season 2 in Atlanta in January for a premiere in early summer. “It was a rare and wonderful moment during the audition when everyone in the room immediately knew we had found our Raquel,” said VH1′s EVP original production and programming Jeff Olde said. “Denise’s beauty, style, grace and humor leap from the screen.” Single Ladies was created by Stacy A. Littlejohn who is executive producing with Flavor Unit Entertainment’s Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere, and Shelby Stone as well as Maggie Malina, Alex A. Motlagh and Tamra Davis. Vasi, repped by APA and Liebman Entertainment, recently completed a 3-year stint on ABC’s daytime drama All My Children and appeared in the film What’s Your Number.

this is FABULOUS news. I wish AMC was still on the air but nevertheless I think this is a great role for her!
I don’t think so. Stacey Dash can’t be replaced on this show. She’s the main reason I watched. This show is going down.
Okay… I’m feeling this one! Let’s see how it all pans out! I think it’s cool that they scrapped the whole Val character, no one really was going to be able to fill those shoes, so it makes sense to create a whole new person! Good idea!
Thank you. Finally cast an actress who can act!
Am so excited! Absolutly can’t wait to see Densie Vasi in this series. She is an amazing person and actress.
This is some amazing news!!! Denise is going to knock the socks off of the viewers of Single Ladies!!! I can hardly wait for the second season to start!!! This is a very good look!!!
I watched the show for Stacey!!! She brought a great vulnerable energy to the character. The show is fantastic, Im disappointed that is didnt work out. Hopefully VH1 will give her a reality show or another vehicle. Still gonna watch Single Ladies though, its the new Sex and the City!
I think Vasi would have been cool to have as a supporting role, not the lead. Her acting skills are well below tolerable, and while cute looking, lacks the extra fire of Stacey Dash. I wish both ladies the best of luck!
I like denise vasi an all but I don’t think her acting skills are all that. I watched all my children until they went off the air an I just couldn’t get into then. I hope it works out but there is no replacement for stacy dash an I believe it will be less viewers than before …..I’m. Going to give it a shot but if I don’t like it I will stop watching…
I was looking forward to the two proposals Val had at the end of the season. Is this show going to completely leave us hanging?
