Fox has extended the run of Allen Gregory … sort of. The network will preempt the seventh and final (for now) episode of the low-rated freshman animated series, slated for Sunday, December 11, to air an all-holiday-themed animated block. A Christmas The Cleveland Show episode will run in the 8:30 PM slot that night, while the last installment from Allen Gregory‘s 7-episode order will air in the time period the following Sunday. That’s expected to be the show’s series finale as a renewal is extremely unlikely. Five episodes in, the series is still sliding in the ratings after a lackluster premiere.

Jonah Hills voice does not fit at all.
The “voice” is about one tenth of the problem. It is heinous to look at. How could there actually be paid people that think it’s okay to sink money into something like this?
Amen!
I first found out about Allen Gregory in Entertainment Weekly. It *seemed* like a perfect fit for my offbeat sense of humor. So I recorded one episode and half way in I deleted it. It’s rare that I give up on a show so quickly, but damn it was just so unfunny and there was no voice talent or even one quirky, interesting character to keep making me watch. But worst of all was that Jonah Hill’s voice was simply completely out of range for the character he was trying to portray. Hill is the lead voice actor of the lead character; the show either rises or falls on what he can do with the character, and he just bombs with it.
Too bad, because this really could have been an interesting addition to the all animation line-up (FYI, I love American Dad, South Park and The Simpsons).
Please let it end. This show is HORRIBLE. Jonah Hill proves he’s even not funny in animated form.
This thing will serve a future purpose as a touchstone of awful for any Bad Thing. As in: “Hey, you remember that ‘Allen Gregory’ piece of shit? This isn’t THAT bad, is it?”
Honestly, I would have to stick forks in my eyes to watch that show. It is an assault on the senses.
I made it through 5 minutes of the pilot. The main character is absolutely unlikeable. He reminded me of the character Abraham from the 1984 film “Children of the Corn”.
Allen Gregory sucks! Cleveland Show ROCKS! It’s the funniest show of the Animation Domination block!
I was sad it wasn’t better. I was honestly looking forward to it. But everyone was so hateful in it, and then not even funny. Not good.
Just kill me off. I’m terrible.
Bring back “Bob’s Burgers”!
Seconded.
The show’s pathetic. And jonah hill’s 15 minutes are over. he was only funny at first because he was fat…no other reason. And that’s now worn thin.
Annoying. Not funny. I couldn’t get through the first 5 minutes.
Allen Gregory is the most annoying character I’ve ever seen on TV. Not sure how anyone thought this was a good idea.
I think the show is hilarious! Sure, it’s offensive but I laugh my ass off at a lot if the jokes. My thought is that most people hate the show because of all the gay jokes. I could be wrong…and out of the whole Judd Apatow crew, I think Jonah’s the funniest…. Now let the hateful replies begin.
Couldn’t happen to a worse show, because there is nothing worse out there. I’d rather watch a reality show about buying someone’s storage unit.
this show is amazing!! and it looks incredible, the animation has such a unique style. don’t understand how you can like cleveland and hate this. and jonah is hilarious in the part– it’s a cartoon, why does he have to likable?
It looks like digital animation, trying to look like hand drawn animation. There is nothing worse looking. The network tried to save a buck and ending up with a horrible looking, headache inducing show…
Meant to say:
“ended” up with a horrible looking, headache inducing show…
I really wanted to like this show. I watched every episode in the hopes it would get better. I just can’t get behind a show where a child manipulates everyone around him for his own extreme selfish purposes week after week and he gets away with it. I could mention many other low points about the show but most issues have been addressed in previous posts. There is just nothing positive about this show. Just take it off now.
Couldn’t even stand the trailer. I could just picture a committee of “producers” raving to each other about how “hilarious” it was going to be.
Interesting. I thought this show was entertaining. Nat Faxon and Will Fotre are incredible in this. Also Jake Johnson is hilarious. I would say that Jonah Hill and French Stewart are not likeable and sometimes hard to watch, but I feel like that is kind of the point. I doubt this show will get re-newed but it is pretty absurd and I can appreciate that. I think Jonah Hill is a great talent though and in hindsight i feel like this could have a cult following.
I should say “over time it could have a cult following”
It’s the animation. It’s too Adult Swimmy.
The animation is the best part of the show. The writing is just brutal. It isn’t funny and it tries really hard. Let’s not lie, this is a hard business, but somebody needs to get fired after this show is canceled.
“Your show is cancelled. Also, Hey! You’re Fired!”
You are really dumb, True Story.
Polly, I think he means someone at the network.
You know, the people that greenlight this crap and put it on the air.
I saw three minutes of this and wanted to smash my TV…what garbage!
If people that think that Family Guy is funny think that this show sucks, it must be truly horrible, as Family Guy is as lowest common denominator as you can get!
This show will not be picked up, it’s last ratings were 1.5. The second time in it’s 5 episode run that it’s been the least watched show of Sunday night. Not only that It’s hurting Animation Domination because people are changing the channel and not turning back when it’s finished. The ratings of the other shows have fallen because of Allen Gregory.
While the animation is well-done, the characters and humor aren’t particularly interesting and lack punches. Hill and gang kept injecting naughty bits between Allen Gregory and Gottlieb.
The only characters who stood out were Julie (Allen Gregory’s adopted sister) and Richard (Allen Gregory’s dad), whose voice actor gives good delivery but mostly poorly written lines.
I think the worst thing about this show is that there are no likeable characters. The idea of a self-centered kid works (look at Eric Cartman, he’s fantastic), but the problem here is that his dad is even more horrible than his son. Other than that, there a no strong, sane characters.
