EXCLUSIVE: Marking his first major feature gig, Burn Notice co-executive producer Craig O’Neill has been set to rewrite Cristo for Warner Bros. A futuristic re-imagining of the Alexandre Dumas revenge classic The Count Of Monte Cristo, Cristo was set up as a spec script by Ian Shorr last summer. The script made the Black List and is being produced by Kevin McCormick’s Langley Park. O’Neill makes his first feature deal shortly after setting up Tin Man, a reinvention of Robocop that’s in development at USA with Fox Television Studios producing. O’Neill’s repped by CAA and Madhouse Entertainment.

Love that BurnNotice series. this is a BIG idea for a movie and that pilot from Oneill is FANTASTIC! go Craig O!
What happened with the original writer?
Craig O’Neill is a great writer and a great guy. Kudos!
Wasn’t Tin Man a reimagining of wizard of OZ on the poorly branded SyFi?
Is “reinvention” the new euphemism for “ripoff”?
There’s already been a reboot of the Monte Cristo, it’s a little show called Revenge on ABC.
This script was written independent of that show’s existence and the movie was probably greenlighted because of the success of that show
Who would root against a futuristic re-imagining of The Count of Monte Cristo? Sounds awesome.
