Will Daniel Craig overtake Roger Moore and become the James Bond franchise’s longest-running 007? Bond producer Michael G Wilson is reported to have said, “I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s record and do eight pictures. Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously. There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a filmmaker’s dream.” Wilson’s comments were reported by London’s The People. Craig is currently shooting his third Bond film, Skyfall, which Sony/Columbia is set to release November 9, 2012. Of Craig doing five more 007 outings, Wilson told The People, “It’s certainly something we’ll be discussing with him once we finish shooting Skyfall.” The paper added that Wilson said there are big plans to mark the Bond films’ 50th anniversary in 2012. Those could include all of the former Bonds (Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Craig) together in one place and a visit to Pinewood to “show off sets from the latest film, as well as props and perhaps give movie master classes for film fans.”

When are they going to remake all the old 007s? They remake everything else these days.
Not gonna happen. At the pace they’re going, he’ll be in his sixties by the time they finish his eighth film. No one today wants to see a 60 year old Bond huffing and puffing his way to beat international terrorists.

Even 50 would be pushing it. Brosnan was a fairly youthful-looking 49 when Die Another Day was released, yet his age was still cited by both producers and fans as a major factor in his dismissal.
I thought they decided to go with a new angle (Bond starting out as a 00) so staying with Brosnan wouldn’t have worked. Brosnan was in good shape for his age and much more so than Roger Moore was at 49. I don’t see Craig staying much longer than another two movies after this next one.
I think Daniel Craig is absolutely amazing as Bond, I would go further to say he’s even better than Sean Connery at least action-wise.
Connery was more believeable as a playboy while Craig isn’t too convincing in that department.
Hmm am not sure Craig has five more pictures in him, isn’t he catching on in years + I thought the next Bond book/movie will be based on a younger Bond.
Nice non-news fluff piece, DHD.
A producer reportedly said that he’d like Craig to do 5 more Bond movies, and they will probably discuss it after Skyfall (which Sony/Columbia is set to release November 9, 2012) is completed.
What?!?! They’re not going to invite David Niven? Blasphemous!
What?!?! David Niven is dead? Inconceivable!
(Yeah yeah, it was a spoof, I know. Get over it.)
Did you practise that one in a mirror?

I assume this is meant to downplay speculation that Craig won’t stick around past Skyfall- as well as all the doubt that has overshadowed the franchise in the past several years.
The producers have a history of announcing this sort of multi-film deal, especially when they’re trying to make the franchise appear to be running smoothly. They even pulled the same stunt when Quantum of Solace was entering production, with Craig “reportedly” being signed do five more films.
Even if they were serious about such a long-term plan, it would never happen. Craig already looks much older than his years and it now takes far too long to get these films produced.
He should only be allowed to do two more for a total of five. Bring in Hugh Jackman after Craig is retired.
Yep, always wanted to see James Bond chasing a guy with his walker. Maybe it could be jet powered, have rockets, machine guns and depends dispenser. Maybe there is a reason why the others didn’t make eight pictures. “No Mr. Bond I expect you to have a stroke….!”.
…and how are they going to get George Lazenby together with the rest of the former Bonds if he’s dead?
George Lazenby is still very much a member of the living daylights club.
According to imdb, he has a project coming out in 2012 called Human Factor.

Um… He’s Alive. I think Connery will be the problem.
Coming soon: Quantum of Bollocks III thru VII
I always wanted to see them do this with Dalton or Brosnan, but the producers are obviously way too fickle and reluctant to commit so far ahead.
I’m not even sure today’s fans would actually want to see it. The whole idea of the reboot was to avoid cliches and strive for more realism. All that goes out the window the minute you start aiming for numerous sequels with an over-the-hill 007.
There’s also the fact that older fans are likely the only group that would even care if each actor got 6 or 7 films. And that’s just because it’s what we remember. Younger fans seem more concerned about a franchise or actor overstaying his welcome or “ruining” previous films with one sequel too many.
What, is Bond going to use a walker? Craig will qualify for The Expendables 5 by then.
ok, my idea is to do a “Grumpy Old Bonds” meets “The Expendables” type film with Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig all playing retired secret service agents. The Queen is kidnapped and these aging agents reunite to rescue her majesty. Surprise cameo: Paul McCartney singing “Her Majesty” as the closing credits.
Personally,my favorite”james bond” was & always shall be Roger Moore. His record of bond films is perfectly safe, because,it takes so long just to make one film- how in the world would he last through five more? Also, keep in mind:the “james bond” films are quite action-packed(and even with stunt doubles or whatever) the films will take their toll on Mr.Craig. I wish them all the luck in the world as they try to make five more films, but,it’s not happening-Craig may not even make it through 2 or 3 more-let alone 5 more “bond” films. Thank you.
No, Fassbender is the next Bond. You had (have) 3 movies Craig
