And just like that, Disney ruins the wanna-see excitement I had for “The Avengers”. Looking forward to seeing Joss talk (also known as lie through his teeth) about how wonderful the movie looks after the post shooting 3-D processing…
Is “Frozen” the rumored animated Ice Queen project?
Well way to dampen my excitement for the Avengers. I have detested the conversions I have seen (particularly when rushed). I’ll be at a 2-D showing thanks. Fool us once same on you, fool us twice…
I’m glad I wasn’t in the room when the studios forced this down Joss’s throat.
2012′s Lie of the Year will be him gushing about how wonderful 3D is.
When are studios going to learn that post production 3D conversion looks like ass, and is a major turn off?
Whedon has previously said he is a fan of 3D and pushed to try and get Cabin in the Woods converted to 3D, so I’m not sure the studio had to convince him. And actually post-conversion technology is improving rapidly (I thought Lion King and Kung Fu Panda 1, both of which I saw on 3D blu-ray, looked better than the majority of films planned for 3D from the start despite being post-release conversions, and I expect similar results with Titanic), but of course if it is not done right the results can be very disappointing, and the fact that the announcement of Avengers’ conversion has come so late could be a sign that the work will be rushed.
If there is a choice what is the big deal, If 2D is available and 3D is available then the 2D purists can still watch what they want, seems like a lot of bitching for really nothing. If people are willing to pay the extra fine, just inflates the box office numbers and puts more money in Marvel/Disney’s pocket, and ultimately into the stockholders pockets.
Seems like people have to bitch about something or they are not happy.
What’s the big deal? THOR and CAPTAIN were both 3D conversions too, so how is this any different? You don’t like it, pay and watch the 2D version.
Easier said than done. None of the Marvel movies were shown in 2D where I live, not even in any of the neighbour cities. It was 3D everywhere.
I have a right to bitch because very often I do. Not. Get. A. Choice!
