From Fox and Warner Bros. TV, the network and studio behind new multicamera comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter, comes I Hate Your Friends, a new multicamera comedy project targeted for next season. Fox has bought the half-hour script written by Michael Showalter and Christina Lee, which centers on a couple who falls in love, thinking they’ve found “the one” … until they meet each other’s friends. Showalter and Lee are executive producing with Peter Principato and Paul Young.
Showalter, repped by UTA and Principato-Young, is the co-creator/director/star of Comedy Central’s Michael & Michael Have Issues. He met Lee while she was a development executive in Comedy Central’s New York office and one of the executives in charge of Michael & Michael. Showalter’s credits also include Comedy Central’s Stella, MTV’s The State and the features The Baxter and Wet Hot American Summer. Lee has a first-look producing deal with MTV. This is Principato-Young’s second comedy project at Fox. The company also has Ever After Part! by by John Ross Bowie and Kevin Sussman through Sony TV.

isnt this mad love
How original..,saw it last night on a re-run of Friends
This is a great idea for a pilot. Now what do you do for the other 99 episodes?
My pilot has the apocalypse in it and this trash gets picked up? Ughh.
So is that how the industry works? You bomb a couple of times on basic cable (Comedy Central) and you get rewarded by Fox/Warners?
The expression on Showalter’s face is probably the same expression he had when they came up with this idea.
So what’s the show??? Not to mention, everything this guys done has bombed?
Michael Showalter is hilarious with an irreverent point of view that will be great for this network-type idea. It’s not amazingly original, but amazingly original doesn’t sell to network TV. The best network comedies are safe ideas created by original voices. This is a smart pickup for Fox.
Tina Lee is the real deal. So is the script.
Don’t shows with the word “hate” in the title generally fail?
Most shows fail period.
