UPDATE: THR said its online photo editor Chris Godley was shot at by the gunman in Hollywood this morning but not seriously injured.
Local newscasts are beginning to show video of a lone undentified gunman who walked into the intersection of Vine and Sunset near movie theaters in the middle of Hollywood this morning and began shooting at people and passing cars. He eventually was shot and killed himself by LAPD officers. The rampage occurred at around 10:30 AM. Reports say as many as two bystanders were hit. Witnesses said the suspect was killed after repeatedly being told by police to drop his weapon. Streets surrounding the busy area have been shut down for the investigation.

People are just going nuts nowadays…first at VA TECH and now in the middle of Hollywood’s most popular intersection. Thank goodness they (LAPD) took this idiot out.

The resulting traffic is a disaster as they have much of Sunset closed. The funny thing is that I flipped through AM radio, checked Waze on my iPhone and Deadline was where I heard it first.
Why was this referred to as a “rampage” in the article? Overdramatizing just a tad? No one was killed except the shooter. Hardly a rampage, thankfully!
It was a rampage. He was shooting at random, cars passing by. He just had bad aim, thank goodness. Chris Godley, the photo editor at THR is a good friend of mine, and it is scary (and not a joke at all) how quickly you could loose people. So grateful.
Its really sad when you read news like this. Hope the bystanders are ok.
