Letting Colin Hanks handle all the acting duties was a huge mistake — talk about watching a great season deflate in the span of a single episode.
Was the Dexter finale any good? Honestly, I’m part of that 11% that tuned out last night, because the back half of this season has just been so disappointing. More Mos Def, and less Colin Hanks, and this could have been a good year. Instead, the writers went off the deep end and threw us the most obvious twist we’ve seen in the show’s entire run. If anyone didn’t see it coming, I’m willing to bet you find round-about’s a pleasant surprise as well.
Talk about a disastrous season. Sorry Scott Buck and Co. but you have effectively destroyed a once great franchise. Bible toting killers, Dexter at his most bumbling. I’m so disappointed in what they’ve done with my beloved Dexter. And now with Deb being convinced she’s in love with her brother? Just because they’re not blood related does not make it any less disturbing. They were children together and grew up as siblings. This isn’t Flowers in the Attic. I feel my once favorite show has been irreparably ruined.
Homeland on the other hand, well done.
Forgot to mention: Homeland was UNBELIEVABLE last night. It’s been a long time since a show had me jumping up and down on the couch and screaming at my tv. Drove my wife nuts, but was so worth it. I hope whichever writers are onboard for Dexter season 7 and 8 were also watching, so they may remember what surprise plot twists and compelling drama is like.
yes – long time Dexter fan, horribly bummed by lame, predictable finale.
liking Homeland this season, but on the fence about whether it was really a good show or just a decent one. That season finale rocked the house and portends a killer 2nd season.
Dexter’s last showrunner Chip Johansson writes on Homeland and his episode was awesome. He got a bum deal having to pick up the pieces after Rota’s death.
Season 6 of Dexter was brilliant. A serial killer taking a spiritual journey was inspired. It was confounding, poignant, searching and yes, sometimes Dexter wasn’t acting like himself because he was adrift (literally at the end of episode 11) in the seas of faith and belief. Each episode was connected by theme and character — what the show has always done better than most. And just when Dexter thought he had it all figured out and assumed he had the answer that there was a place for him in the world — like most who think they have all the answers — he was reminded of what little he knows.
As for Homeland. He’s a terrorist. She’s crazy. Yeah, see how that plays out over 6 seasons.
Wait a minute. On a show where the lead character is an unapologetic murder, you people are upset because his ‘sister’ who isn’t blood related to him is in love with him? Him killing people in brutal, bloody fashions has no effect on you but woman admitting her love for him DOES?
You people are really fucking stupid.
I for one loved the finale of Dexter. As did the entire group I was watching it with. I don’t understand what these complaints are all about. As a fan of the series, how can you not be excited to see where it goes from here because so many story lines over the past few seasons have been leading to exactly what happened in the last episode!
Bad writing is bad writing… we just expected more.
It’s Showtime, not CBS.
Dexter finale: 3/10.
Hanks couldn’t pull it off. Boring. Something is wrong with the writing, directing and Carpenter’s acting too so that I didn’t care about the cliffhanger (predictable btw). A Top 10 ridiculous plotline when they waited for Dexter at the crime scene so he could destroy the face. This show has become an embarassement.
Homeland finale: 7/10.
Solid finale but very predictable. Acting was superb from Lewis and the daughter. Everyone with half a brain knew he wouldn’t do it, so the scene wasn’t suspenseful. Once you knew the outcome, the finale delivered. Disappointed they didn’t answer the mole question though.
