Here’s an updated trailer for Act Of Valor, in which active duty Navy SEALs play key roles in what Relativity describes as “a powerful story of contemporary global anti-terrorism inspired by true events.” With an emphasis on state-of-the-art warfare, it’s produced and directed by Mike “Mouse” McCoy and Scott Waugh and written by Kurt Johnstad. In addition to the SEALs it stars Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle and Nestor Serrano. Opens February 24.

Story aside, this looks great for something that was shot with a $2,500 camera. The folks at Canon could use this for their marketing for the 5D MKII.
Oh! They have been!
Ugh. Looks like…. military porn!
Propaganda.
Meanwhile, back in real life, Americans have lost their basic civil liberties and rights, as they can now be indefinitely detained without charges or due process.
OH HELL YES
i cannot wait
Looks amazing. Watch this do gangbusters budget vs. box office, then see Hwood scramble to explain why war movies don’t do well — when in reality it’s anti-war movies that don’t, except in N.Y. and L.A.
I’m still amazed that most of this film was shot with Canon 5ds. Shane Hurlbut is killing it!
He’s a nice guy, but that doesn’t cut it when you’re fucking about. Or so Christian Bale says.
I’ve seen this movie. It looks FANTASTIC. Mouse and Scott did a great job directing it. However, the acting is very sub par. The Seals aren’t actors, and it shows. I admire what these guys did and what they accomplished, and they’re going to kick ass on their Arnold movie, but the acting and storytelling in this particular film isn’t going to hold up. I think a lot of people are going to be afraid to say this as it’s going to sound “Un-American” to criticize actual Seals in this film. But this is the truth, in my humble opinion. Nothing against Roselyn Sanchez, but when she’s BY FAR the best performance in the film, that speaks for itself.
But again, it looks amazing. Mouse and Scott are very talented, as is Shane. The guys will have a good and prosperous career directing. I’m very curious to see what the general public perceives this to be when it comes out.
AWESOME! Can’t wait to see a film that loves the military instead of hates them. And I know I speak for a LOT of other people.
what movies hate the military exactly?
Yea, Please list 3 movies from the last 20 years that “hate” the military.
She can’t, because they don’t exist. She’s just repeating what she’s been TOLD by her friends and right wing news sources, rather than thinking for herself and actually watching the MANY, MANY war films that honor and celebrate the soldiers that are the main characters.
Other examples of this propaganda that dolts like Carolyn believe:
-Democrats only want to raise taxes and do not believe in cutting spending at all.
-All of the media is liberal.
-Hollywood liberals run this country.
-No one makes movies about white people any more because liberals hate white people.
-If Hollywood only made more Christian-themed films, they would reap millions in box-office and be serving the majority of Americans who yearn for wholesome, God-affirming films.
I did a Google search yesterday for “NDAA bill” hoping to get some major news sources’ take on the bill and Obama’s failure to veto it, and…not a single major news source had a story on it on the first two pages of Google results. Not one.
No MSNBC, no CNN, no Fox News, no Yahoo news. Only left-leaning periodicals and blogs had even reported on it.
But the media is SO liberal and just loves everything Obama does, right? And liberals hate the military, right? Sheesh.
Think…for…yourself. And…do…your…own…research.

Only three?
Let’s see…
1. Redacted
2. Green Zone
3. In the Valley of Elah
4. Die Hard 2
5. Courage Under Fire
6. The Siege
7. The Rock
8. Casualties of War
9. Oliver Stone’s Heaven and Earth
That’s just off the top of my head.
@ Honestly
I’ve seen it too, and I think its pretty obvious the public will give the SEALs a mulligan in the acting department in exchange for the kick ass action they portray through 75% of the film. This makes the expendables look like doofus’ compared to the tactical, smart, and most of all fast paced and authentic offenses portrayed by these operators. In fact I don’t think there much the public won’t give SEALs a mulligan on going forward after the OBL operation.
+1 on audiences giving them a mulligan. The “hot extract” scene shown in the trailer is one of the best scenes of its type I’ve seen. (Got an audible “holy sh*t” out of me.) The realism, the way it unfolds, the pay-off. Makes films like “Patriot Games” – which I like – look like community theater. They’ve captured something unique here and the realism/credibility they get for using the actual guys more than makes up for the performances. I’m not a military person but I found the process of how these guys do what they do to be fascinating.
Looks about as good as Immortals.
The acting in these kinds of movies is secondary to the action. That being said, I shrug at the conceit that “These Are Real Seals.” So what? IT’S STILL A MOVIE.
Yes… yes… and um… yes.
While the acting does indeed look bad, they are in fact the real deal. I’ll sacrifice acting and some bad story for a semi-authentic look at the what these guys go through on a regular basis.
Meh. I’ll wait for a Modern Warfare movie. Much better story in that franchise. Lots of twists and turns, cities get nuked, an evil General, and Soap and Pike (OMG they’re British! O.K. one’s a Scotsman.) save the world from all out war.
This looks amazing. No one is going to go see this for the Seals acting chops, they are going to watch how these real life BAMFs take care of business. It’s totally a guy’s film, wish fulfillment to the extreme.
Just look how successful Expendables was, add in the FPS shooter fans like MW 3 and BF 3 and you got a hit on your hands.
Looks like a great MOW for television.
pro-war bullshit. Wonder how much cash the Pentagon threw in. I feel bad for soldiers like these. They’ve been brainwashed to kill anyone and everyone. A movie like this just helps beat the war drums which are getting louder towards Iran, a country who has never attacked anyone. Does the nuke thing sound familiar? It’s bullshit. When you have Cheney out there stoking the fire you know it all a lie. When will it end?
“…which are getting louder towards Iran,” So are you part of the SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT of this country that thinks we’re going in the wrong direction? Rather than posting your discontent on a non-political message board, why don’t you vote for someone (ANYONE) else to be our President?
I saw a screening of this movie and it is absolutely incredible. Best action film in a long time — possibly all time. The sequences are like nothing I’ve ever seen before — nothing beats shooting practically with real life action heroes. The story is pretty good, too. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. I hope this movie does huge business.
I am glad that some real Navy Seals are in the movie.
