Here’s the first look at Fox’s The Three Stooges, the Farrelly brothers’ long-in-the-works take on the comedy trio. Its winding road started with the original plan to cast Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro and Jim Carrey in the lead roles; eventually, the brothers went with Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos. It’s due out April 4, 2012. So, do they pull off getting Larry, Curly and Moe right? And do they pull off putting them in modern day?

This looks HORRIBLE . . not funny and not appealing for anybody. Looks like a bad MADTV skit gone long. Epic fail
And we have a winner for the worst trailer of year…beating out JACK & JILL.
The babies are priceless. As is everything Larry David does. As is Kate Hudson’s midsection. What’s not to like?
Calm down haters. This trailer made me laugh out loud. The actors look amazing and are just like the original stooges. Can’t wait for it to come out in theaters.
I’m with you, I thought it was hysterical. Seeing Snooki completely ruined my fun though. Otherwise, I like it.
Ditto!
O.K. Everybody—– SPREAD OUT!!!!
The trailer is not only hysterical— but just watching the physicality and listening to the dead on vocal impressions is amazing.
For us rapidly aging brats from the 50′s who grew up with the guys every week-day afternoon on WPIX Channel 11 out of New York, the trailer not only captures “L’Essence Des Stooges” but places their timeless, agressive comedic stylings of the past and deftly drops the boys into our angst and politically correct run amok times.
In short, “NYUK, NYUK, NYUK….. Coitenly!!!”.
Agreed. I never liked the Stooges (I was more of Abbott & Costello guy on WPIX Sundays), but if you’re a Stooges fan, I see no reason why this movie wouldn’t appeal to you.
I don’t understand people getting so upset about an update. To bring some great comedy to a new generation (99% of whom would never otherwise go back and appreciate the original anyway) is a great thing. This looks to me like it was done with love and reverence. I’m up for giving it a chance and hoping that it helps the work of the original stooges live on.
I am not associated with this film in any way, shape or form. I think the trailer is hysterical! The actors pull off the roles magnificently. I got genuine laughs from this, but I must say, seeing Snooki seemed WAY out of place and knocked the humor right out of me. I actually stopped laughing when I saw her.
But I truly think this is great work and would see it in a theater, unquestionably…good fun entertainment.
Snooki? Really?
Well that just reeks of desperation.
I literally uttered out loud “Ohh nooo…” when I saw that.
When Snooki is the best part of a trailer, you know you’ve got serious problems.
My God, was that bad. I mean, BAD.
It will be worth the price of admission just to see Snooki getting her “eyes dotted” on the big screen. Beyond that, I was definitely watching the Stooges, so kudos to the cast. I hope the storyline can hold up for 90 minutes.
Wow, that was even worse than I thought it might be. Yikes.
Also didn’t know it was set in “modern” time. WTF?
Yeah, you’re right – should have set it in the thirties and shot it in black and white and… wait don’t we already have that?
The only thing worse than a bad comedy is one that is completely ripped off and unoriginal. I’ve never seen such desperation.
They have the Stooges down just fine (pardon the pun)…but, the question is will this film be interesting enough for 90 to 120 minutes.
Jury has not yet started deliberations until all the evidence is available.
Agree, there are fleeting moments where they do capture the stooges, but only fleeting. Yes, the question is, will this be as funny at minute 85 as it is in the first.
this looks great! Congrats on making what looks to be a good comedy without spending $20M on Talent!
Funny…some of the slap/poke routines in the trailer are identical to the ones reenacted in the ABC TV movie from 2000 or so.
n’Yuk n’Yuk n’Yuk
goodbye farrelly brothers. goodbye.
kudos to penn, carrey and del toro for staying away. could not have imagined any of them in this incarnation.
exactly what i was thinking. Jim Carrey really made a brilliant move by dumping this.
Before clicking this trailer, i was expecting it to feel a lot like Dumb and Dumber. Not even close. Everything in this felt unoriginal and hollow.
no offense, but that’s SHIT!
Spot on! 100% agree
Beyond dreadful… dated and totally unappealing to anyone under 60
please do not insult people over 60.
W. T. F? I thought this was going to be a biopic and was really looking forward to it. But now? No. Unbelievable.
Agreed.
I thought we were supposed to be getting a more dramatic biography like story of their real lives.. this is like a parody… and a bad one.
Yes! My thinking exactly. I thought this was supposed to be a biopic not some Adam Sandler-esque reboot.
And quite frankly. I never understood the appeal of the 3 Stooges. Even as a kid I found it incredibly annoying and unfunny.
Wow…that looks REALLY bad, like painful bad
How the fuck does this get classed as a hot trailer? It’s offensive to anyone who cherishes the history of cinema. It’s highly offensive to anyone who appreciates good comedy. What next? Have someone portray Charlie Chaplin’s tramp? Maybe Laurel and Hardy? Why don’t we just dig up their skeletons and use them to put on a puppet show? The corrupt cesspit that churns out these multi-million dollar excuses for entertainment is way out of touch with what people want to see. Falling box office and ever decreasing attendance figures are not an accident. Sometimes I feel dirty being in the movie business. Maybe the dirty movie business would be cleaner?
Very well said. If it weren’t for these comments on here, I would guess this movie would break box office records as the first movie to ever gross $0 at the box office. I don’t see how anyone outside of a stoned 8 year old could find this amusing.
I expected horrible, I was pleasantly surprised. This trailer made me laugh out loud several times. I love Dumb and Dumber and this feels more of the same. I can’t wait.
Please don’t insult Dumb and Dumber. This one is clearly along the lines of Dumb and Dumber(er)
Christ, is every new film going to take place in Atlanta now? This is more irritating than the plague of Boston films a couple of years back.
God forbid New Jersey announces a lucrative tax credit…
They have one and still nobody shoots there.
F Minus
did i just get my eyes gouged-out?
The guy looks nothing like Moe. I love Will Sasso and he does a great Curly, but it belongs on MAD TV not a feature film. There is no style here. The Stooge comedies from the 40′s had a “look”–a cheap look, but at least a style. This piece of crap looks like every dumb shit comedy that comes out of every major studio.
Could this movie be so bad its good? I hope so….
finally… a “Showgirls” for this generation… oh, wait… no nudity. pass.
Words fail me…
That looks awful. Is it going to be rated “R” for all the violence? On a positive note, the actors do closely resemble the real Three Stooges.
Not for ‘comic’ violence.
Ouch. This makes “Jack and Jill” look like a work of genius…
And site editors, this is definitely NOT a “Hot” trailer. Frozen fish is hotter.
