Neither of Lifetime’s freshman series will make it to a second season. Following the September cancellation of The Protector, Lifetime recently quietly opted not to renew Against the Wall. The cop/family drama, which drew largely positive reviews, premiered with soft 1.8 million viewers, on par with The Protector‘s 1.9 million. Neither series showed growth throughout their freshman run, leading to Lifetime’s decision not to go forward with either of them. In light of that, the network recently ordered 10 more episodes of veteran Army Wives to use as a launching pad for new shows, along with Drop Dead Diva. Lifetime has on tap The Client List, based on the successful movie, with Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising her role, as well as pilots Modern Love starring Eric Stoltz, American Housewife starring Melanie Griffith and movie/backdoor pilot Sworn To Secrecy starring Neve Campbell.

I still have 5 episodes on my DVr that I will probably never watch. I did not even know about The Protector. That was actually a much better show than Against the Wall. Not really a fan of any of those other shows but I am not exactly their target audience.
A series with JLH being a massage parlor prostitute, just not sure how you serialize this. Too bad the title Happy Endings was in use. They could diverge from the movie and make it into a low rent love boat like brothel where washed up celebrities drop by to get their rocks off courtesy of Jennifer.
im mad as hell Against the Wall was amazing. i wanted to see who abby choose her man to be…i want it to be brody damn he sexy….oh yeah wtf is wrong with you people, if you dont enjoy the show dont watch it, its that simple….i love the cast
I agree. This was a wonderful show with complex and believable characters. Too bad this was never promoted well. I’m hoping that Lifetime will change its mind.
Are the nuts? This is one of the only shows on tv that isn’t so predictible. I loved it!!!!! It has to come back!!!!!!
Change your mind Lifetime!!! I was just getting my friends turned on to it and it was off for what was supposed to be the season.
I agree this was a great show. I got my sister finally hooked on it and now she is mad because it has been cancelled. Againist the wall needs to come back on.
I agree with your post! I felt the family bonds, I loved the way it was opposite of all the other cop shows. I so enjoyed a beer with them when they were on the roof with the fire. It was so inviting. Please bring this show back.
I’m not a tweeter. So my learning the show was cancelled. I loved the show. Hope they change their minds.
Oh noooo, say it aint so,AGAINST THE WALL cancelled, great show, who the hell makes these decisions.Great actors, great storylines, what else do you need???
i loved that show too i was so looking forward to it coming back on now will never know what happens they always cancel the good shows against the wall was an excellent show i hope they change there mind and bring it back!
I have been waiting all year for Against the wall to come back on and i just now find out that it was cancelled. WTF. I really liked that show. It was a great cop/family drama. Lifetime needs to bring it back.
I agree with you. I think it was a great show and was looking forward to season two. Really disappointed that the show was dropped by lifetime. Hopefully it will be picked up by another network. We will have to keep our fingers crossed.
If they are going to cancel against the wall they could let us know who she picked, that is the least they could do!!!!
I agree….I was soooo looking to see next season of Against the Wall….hate that we were so left hanging only to be completely cut off….
Unbelievable… what a letdown!!! I was so looking forward to see the new season of ‘Against the Wall’. I loved this show.
i completely agree i loooooved again the wall and i was rooting for brody as well… i cant believe they end it with her opening the door to the guy she choose and then decide not to bring it back ughh.. another station should try and pick it up like nbc, abc, or cbs.. i just want it back!!
So, let me get this straight. Lifetime cancelled a show with strong family ties putting a young woman in a positive role model position. Which is a good thing. But replacing it with a mother who becomes a “call girl” in order to support her family. Interesting. Lifetime used to be about women and for women. Now, it is about sex for men. What a disappointment the network has become.
I also enjoyed the show and got my husband to watch it with me. He became a fan as well. We were cheering for Brody as well.
I can’t believe you canceled Against The Wall!!! This was a GREAT show, GREAT storyline, and kept my interest from week to week. Cancel some of the other crap that you are showing and bring back Abby!
Which show were you watching. The protector was terrible, acting
painful to watch
AGAINST THE WALl was a good show…with good actors, some decent writing. LIFETIME actually had a small winner here. Too bad they didn’t know how to handle it.
CHICAGO CODE was very good. I like the writer’s comments below. that was well written and acted. talk about not having any good sense of what’s good in TV, i think that was fox, FOX doesn’t have a real good sense of programming….
I loved Against the Wall-a great show in my hometown. Hope Lifetime will re-consider bringing it back. it really had great family character.
I cant say i am sorry about The Wall – since there was part of the setup that seemed like a blatant ripoff of one of my all time favorite mystery series. I know i know – there are a lot of ideas floating around out there and there is coincidence and blah blah blah but if Hollywood is too cheap to buy a book – or read a book – and go with an inferior spin on better material – thats what they get. And i also think it is another example of the audience just not wanting to see the gritty spin on the lady cop – dont know why – they didnt go for Prime Suspect or Chicago Code either.
@Ellie, What series are you talking about?
Everything Lifetime does these days is so grim and brutal, especially their television movies. No wonder nobody wants to watch them. There’s enough of that in the world right now. They need to lighten up.
@Ellie – think i know which series you mean! Set @ the Jersey shore right? My favorite characters and if ATW did rip them off they did a bad job and yeah – should have picked up the books or at least bought those characters.
@Attagirl – with you 100%. Always be an audience for the really wild stuff like Walking Dead but the ‘mean streets’ and ‘ripped from the headlines’? Worked when we were all doing okay but with foreclosures down the street and friends out of work – dont mind drama but give us a little hope for petes sake.
What a sad bunch of whiny, industry hangers-on. #Ellie, you have no clue what you’re talking about. I know the evolution of ATW and it nothing to do with whatever you seem to think it did. #Attagirl, did you even watch the show? It wasn’t grim at all. It was a family drama about a very tight knit family when one of them goes into Internal Affairs. One of the big reasons people didn’t watch it is that Lifetime is not a place that anybody thinks to go to watch decent scripted television anymore. #Barb, another person who clearly never saw the show but like most assistants who think they could do their boss’ job, you have an opinion based on no information. Because you’re new to the business I’ll tell you the industry expression that you’ve embodied it’s called “Asshole without Credential”.
Your right at that.
I never missed an episode of that .
I loved that show. They seem to keep the out of sorts shows I hate that these good shows come on and then the good ones they take off .
Damn who decides this.
i was sorry to see that they cancelled against the wasll.. enjoyed the show and now won’t find out who abby picked
Mr Q you sound like one of those angry down and out people Attagirl and Barb are talking about. I thing all of the comments made some sense (and think i know the series the gals were talking about) – but have to admit that its always possible for two people to have the same idea. My problem with Against the Wall was that it just seemed weak from the characters to the writing especially when there was another cop & family drama on the air to compare it with – Blue Bloods. I will go to any channel that has “decent scripted programming” – there is so little of it. I think one of the other problems with Against the Wall was the time shifting – it first came on after Project Runway which was running 1 1/2 hrs and you are asking hard working people to stay up til 11:30. Big mistake both in extending PR which does not need to be more than an hour and bumping Against the Wall around.
Terry, I’m talking about people who clearly never saw the show commenting about something they don’t know anything about. The show was anything but grim. And if I sound angry, it’s because internet sites like this one allow for the democratization of ignorance. Wrong is wrong no matter if you think it “made some sense.” You really don’t know the half of it in terms of the mess made by Lifetime. You’re entitled to your opinions, but to compare ATW to a seriously bad show like Blue Bloods makes you sound like a wannabe writer or worse, a development person.
Maybe they should have aired ATW Friday nights just before “Blue Bloods” – another cop family drama. Prime Suspect, ATW and Chicago Code all very slow moving for my taste, and I hate the way the guys treat Maria Bello on PS! Really hope to see Rachael in something more substantial – she’s a great little actress and ATW didn’t allow her talent to shine.
I am saddened by the fact that Against the Wall was not renewed. The show was Awesome and I watched it when it came on while missing CSI:Miami. I liked this show because it isn’t like DDD (Drop Dead Diva), a lawyer show, which is absolutely amazing, and it is also not like CSI or Law and Order: SVU. This show brought a different aspect into a job that I feel is not mentioned frequently such as a lawyer or a police officer. I liked the tension factor that was held between Abby and her family along with the strains of abby’s relationship with Brody and Danny. Does anyone agree with this? Or am I completely wrong?
Deej, no you’re not wrong. That was the point of the show. It wasn’t really a cop show, it was about the relationships she had with her family and the stress of her job choice. Just sad that between Lifetime’s poor advertising and an audience that seems to want more and more crummy procedural shows, that a different show didn’t break through.
Totally agree…so disappointed!!! Somehow, we should get “closure”….basically, find out who was at the door…guess we can choose the one we wanted…for me, that would be BRODY!!!
I agree Beverly, it was Brody on the other side of the door.
I actually enjoyed this show. Never did watch The Protector or Army Wives. Stopped watching Drop Dead Diva after the first season. Had a feeling this wasn’t going to get renewed. Darn it…wanted to know who Abby picked…..I was hoping it would be the cop. Seriously, networks need to give shows a time to grow and foster. I hope its not replaced by yet ANOTHER reality show.
I hate that Against the Wall isn’t coming back! I love this show so much! I am also really upset we won’t see who she picked either. That’s so dumb they cancelled it.
I agree completely!
I wonder if enough people complain maybe hey will bring it back…..a lot better than dance mom’s
Please reconsider cancelling Against the Wall. It was one of my favorite shows. I looked forward to it every Sunday night. Thanks
I truly enjoyed this show, and not to beat a dead horse, but I enjoyed this show BECAUSE it was so different than any other cop show out there. Admittedly, I haven’t seen Blue Bloods, but for me the draw of this show was that much of it was believable… anyone who knows a cop knows how much IA is bastardized, any woman who has a male centric job knows how hard it can be to do anything to stand out and look like more than a walking pair or boobs, and anyone with a family knows how hard it can be when one member makes a decision that no one else agrees with. As a Navy wife, Army wives is borderline offensive, Lifetime movies are depressing and while I love DDD, this was to me, Lifetime’s saving grace. I am sad to see this show go, and I’m hoping the network can continue to think outside of the box, hopefully presenting us with another (if more widely appreciated) piece of programming that isn’t all either horrible “reality” or syrupy poisonous made for tv movies.
Can we at least know who she picks? This show was really good you need to bring it back! I vote Brody!
I need to know who she picks. I never stalk tv websites but I’ve been checking atw website to find out the next seasons start date. This is the first show that I’ve watched on lifetime that was even somewhat interesting. Their descion to cancel it just shows that they are stupid and want there network to die a stupid death.
Every time I get into a series, it gets cancelled! This was my Sunday night time, why cancel, it was a pretty good show. You need to get rid of half of the nonsense shows that are airing now. I just loved all the men in blue on this show, especially Andrew Walker!!!!
This show did not deserve to be cancelled. It wasn’t your every day cop show. I really enjoyed that it took a look at IA and what those detectives go through. I also liked that it was a family-centered show as well. It’s so disappointing that Lifetime is allowing shows like Dance Moms and whatever other garbage they’re airing now to continue instead of shows that actually keep people interested.
This is ridiculous! We couldn’t we get closure and find out who was at the door! I watched this show every Sunday night! I’m so tired of shows being cancelled and no announcement given!
I love that show I love that girl and it’s abou chicago what’s better they that you guys suck at lifetime sunday night tv at 900to10 was ggreat tv now is back to watching crap
i was really looking forward to watching atw. really liked the show. great cast, great story and i want to know who she picked. i really hope they bring it back.
Ijust check lifetime website to find out when ATW was coming back on and find out it was cancelled. I usually donot write comments on shows or anything else but I just had to say THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW
I looked forward to watching this show. ATW was different from all the others.
Please consider bring the show back as per all the FANS above and ME
Thank’s for caring about Lifetime Fans.
I am so disappointed to see that “Against the Wall” has been cancelled. I loved that show and really looked forward to it each Sunday night. It’s a huge disappointment, especially with NO announcement and no conclusion to the series. I’m really unhappy with Lifetime for doing this.
I’m so disappointed Lifetime cancelled Against the Wall. One of the only series i watched on tv these days. I thought it had a good combination of suspense, police drama, and some good hot sex scenes. So let’s air more trash like jersey shore and pretty little liars…for a bunch of teenage girls drama BS.
I really loved this show! Me and my sister watched it every single week! I hate that they always cancel shows on a cliffhanger and leave the people who actually watched it never knowing what happened!!! And I agree and they will probly replace it with another stupid reality show!
I agree I loved the show. Partially because I have 3 sons and one daughter. The way the brothers reacted to her was much the same as my kids. The show had a great story and a good cast. I agree why throw away a good show and keep these dingy reality shows.
