EXCLUSIVE: Lifetime has greenlighted two-hour original movie/backdoor pilot Sworn to Silence, starring Neve Campbell. The project, based on the book by Linda Castillo, will be executive produced by Unforgettable star Poppy Montgomery and Barbara Lieberman (Lifetime’s upcoming The Pregnancy Project), with Campbell co-executive producing. Additionally, Party Of Five alumna Campbell has signed a development deal with Lifetime for scripted dramas and original movies. Sworn to Silence is set in the Amish farming community of Painter’s Mill, Ohio, which was shaken up by a series of brutal murders 15 years ago. Kate Burkholder (Campbell), who as a young girl survived the terror and left the Amish life behind, now returns to Painter’s Mill as its Chief of Police. But Kate’s renewed life in her hometown is shattered when a murder investigation triggers deep-seated emotions from her childhood and exposes a dark secret that could destroy her. The movie/backdoor pilot will be directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal (Girl Fight) from a script by Mark Malone (Law & Order: Crimi
nal Intent). “I’ve always admired Neve’s work,” Lifetime Networks’ president and general manager Nancy Dubuc said. “She is a proven talent who will bring a high level of intensity and presence to this role and Sworn to Silence.”
After revisiting its movie The Client List into a series, Lifetime is taking the step early with Sworn To Silence, building the series possibility into the film as it goes forward. And, given Lieftime’s substantial longform slate, the network may continue to mine it for potential series in the future. “Growing our scripted programming remains a top priority for Lifetime and our longform strategy provides us with a strong stable from which to identify potential series,” Dubuc said. With Sworn To Silence, Campbell joins Party Of Five co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt at Lifetime. Hewitt’s The Client List followed a similar trajectory as Sworn To Silence. It started off as an original movie and, following its ratings success, was picked up to series with Hewitt starring and executive producing. Like Campbell, Hewitt too was given a development deal by Lifetime in a conjunction with the series.
Campbell, star of the Scream movie franchise, recently completed filming the internationally-produced series Titanic: Blood and Steel with Chris Noth, which is slated for 2012. She is with UTA, U.K.’s Ken McReddie Assoc. and manager Arlene Foster. Sworn To Silence extends Montgomery’s relationship with Lifetime. She recently starred in the network’s biopic Magic Beyond Words: The JK Rowling Story. Sworn To Secrecy joins 2 traditional pilots Lifetime ordered in the last few months: drama pilot Modern Love starring Eric Stoltz and American Housewife starring Melanie Griffith. Additionally, Lifetime and Renée Zellweger are developing the drama series Cinnamon Girl set in the Los Angeles music and movie scenes of the late 1960s/early 1970s.

I can’t wait to read all the Amish bloggers reviewing this show – especially over at MilkChurn and BarnRaise
This could be really good.
Most of television especially broadcast has failed to move the crime Drama genre forward over the last decade. With exception of shows like The Wire, The Shield, Justified, and South land.
Lifetime has still not proven that it want’s to do intelligent and provocative originals that are not soaked in sentiment or more than prime time soaps.
Lol at Neve Campbell as any kind if cop, let alone a former Amish chief of police. There is so much wrong with this project from the actual concept to the casting I’m at a loss.
Who is this Nell Canttell that you speak of. Is she an emerging talent? Never heard of her.
neve campbell she played in scream as cindy, party of 5 etc
Sounds like an interesting concept
Wondering if Poppy is going to get a role on the movie/pilot, in case Unforgettable gets cancelled…
Good to see that Lifetime is continuing its streak of not hiring female writers or directors.
Lifetime can’t get out of its own way. They ignore the good shows that they have, and promote them horrendously so they can develop crap like this?! Neve Campbell as an Amish police chief?? Seriously??? Nancy Dubuc never has and never will understand scripted drama.
Lifetime: Television for women, misery for men. It is a disgusting network full of movies about rape, murder, torture of women. If you want to be depressed turn on Lifetime.
I thought the book was very good and want to watch the movie. Any word on the other story charaters and who will play them?
I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve all 3 of her series books and i am to excited!

I am also very excited to see this movie/miniseries. I just finished the last book. I think Neve Campbell is an interesting choice. I want to know when this is coming out so i make sure to tape it or watch it live depending on when it is.
when you find out let me know please
ive googled and looked it up but no date
I’d love to watch the movie ‘Sworn to Silence’ also…any word yet?
Ok so just finished Gone Missing….so when and where is the next book coming out and the movie?????
Don’t be ridiculous guys! Lifetime has amazing movies that are great and touching! And don’t even get me started on the whole dissing Neve Campbell ordeal! She has more talent then any of you have in your entire bodies put together! If she can pull off a victim in a horror movie and a funny gal in a comedy movie, you are sadly mistaken if you think she can’t pull off a cop role. And by the way, you are all WRONG! Kate isn’t even Amish anymore! Didn’t you read the book?! Goodness!! She went from Amish to English so thank you. So next time you want to say something, make sure you have ALL the facts. I knew all of that and I’m only 15 for crying out loud!
The next book in the series isn’t going to be released until next summer. Love this series.. Just hope they stick to the book for this movie and don’t go off and get all ” Hollywood” on it. It would be a shame.
Just finished the last of the series & loved them all. I couldn’t put them down. Can’t wait til the next book comes out. I’m also excited about the movie. I too hope it sticks to the book as much as possible.
Love the books – I keep thinking they will be good movies. Glad to read this and am anticipating the film!!!
