EXCLUSIVE: Mandate Pictures has optioned The Young, The Hot, And The Bothered, a script by Leah Rachel that is described as a coming-of-age comedy about the delusion, desperation, and absolute euphoria of first loves. Dan Jinks will produce and Mandate president Nathan Kahane will be executive producer. Anonymous Content’s Adam Kossack and Adam Shulman will co-produce. Jinks called the 25-year-old Rachel “the freshest and funniest writer I’ve come across in some time. Her script has the potential to become a touchstone movie for a generation.” Mandate’s Nicole Brown is supervising.
Rachel has been setting up projects left and right. Starf*cker, in the works at HBO with Boardwalk Empire’s Stephen Levinson and Mark Wahlberg exec producing, is about a group of female friends establishing careers and finding romance in Los Angeles. She’s also scripting BAMFS, a pilot for ABC that has Jamie Tarses and Julia Franz exec producing. Rachel’s adaptation of the book Here Lies Bridget at Galgos Entertainment just landed Kat Coiro as director. Rachel’s repped by WME and Anonymous Content.

I love this talented girl!!!!!!! She is just everything and then some…Can’t wait to follow her career. A Supastar.
How many times will Levinson and Wahlberg remake ENTOURAGE and sell it? For fuck’s sake, I can’t wait for BEVERLY HILLS DOGS to come to HBO.
This girls a superstar
That starfucker script is the best thing I’ve read in a while
Special script.
Yes, yes, YES!!!!! This girl’s unique and kind of amazing
any ideas where one could find the script for starf*ckers if wanted to read?
I kid you not, god bless hollywood, because if its the same girl I think it is (and I wouldn’t forget that face) this girl was serving me pizzas in laurel canyon 2 years ago, she told me she was a writer and actress, and I was like, blah blah blah, yeah, yeah, aren’t they all. And now I am eating my own shit. More power to you, Leah. I guess you’re not a pizza waitress anymore.
How funny. I saw her picture and I was like I know that woman from somewhere….Anyway, good luck to her. Nice to see someone truly coming from the bottom and making it to the top.
“Girl”? She’s a twenty-five-year-old woman! All this male slobbering over this “girl” just underscores every cliche of Hollywood sexism.
Well, hopefully, Leah Rachel truly is all that as a writer, and best wishes for her continued success.
AGREED. lay off her looks u pigs
Relax. Someone wrote “girl.” Doesn’t make him a sexist or a “pig.” Just relax. And “pigs,” as in plural? There is only one comment on here by a guy who even references her gender. Way to over-react. Totally appropriate. Kudos.
This is just a press release, it’s not real news. You can all relax.
Wishing Leah the best, she is a bright light to be around.
Anything in the hands of Dan Jinks I’m rooting for.
Can you say the poor man’s Diablo Cody. Looks like Mandate has another film with pathetic BO lined up in the cue. Put these people out of their misery. Juno was a fluke and like a drug addict trying to get back to the first high, they keep trying to recreate it. Give it up kids, and start making real films that people want to see.
Bitter
This script was one of those that I didn’t know quite why I loved it, but I loved it
I met her at the yogurtland on the sony lot a few months ago and I knew she was going to be big, she got good flavors too.
Every calm down, she is both a GIRL and a WOMAN, because she is 25. And let’s be grownups here and talk about the script not the face
