Set in the time of steam engines and miniscule social welfare the character of Hugo repairs things to survive and keep a roof over his head. A nice human interest story as well as a short history of early cinematography in the western world. Enjoyable special effects, comical exaggerated characters such as the Rail station constable.
Hugo the movie comments on the disposiable society in which we live. Hugo shows that while machinery and people are thrown to the side when their inner workings misfire, both can be reclaimed.
Ironic that it is in 3D with the disposiable glasses.
