Fifteen months after we first reported that MTV is bringing back celebrity hidden-camera series Punk’d, the cable network today acknowledged the series’ existence for the first time. While MTV confirmed that Katalyst’s Jason Goldberg and Ashton Kutcher — the masterminds behind the original series that ended its run in 2007 — are back as executive producers, the network stopped short of announcing any involvement of pop star Justin Bieber, who had been attached to the reboot. MTV will introduce the new Punk’d with a sneak peek during its New Year’s eve show, NYE in NYC 2012 on December 31, when MTV plans to reveal details about the reboot — including host(s).

Wow. Candid Camera comes back. Yawn.
Way to go MTV. Let’s see what other shows you can dust off and put on the air again. Perhaps you should try moving forward in the future.
Sorry, does that say “masterminds?”
Its about time…best show!
How about some music videos? And not just the same twelve on shuffle. Make me want my MTV again.
What purpose would music videos on TV serve in 2012? Will people still be complaining about this in 2050.
Did you say “masterminds”??
This is great…such a cult classic show…can’t wait to see who they get
too good be true. been too long. miss me some punk’d!
Can’t wait for some new episodes! Let’s see who cries this season.
Definitely going to be interesting…i hope they get Lady Gaga.
Masterminds? They are both brain dead. Maybe they can punk Rumor or Scout into thinking they are talented.
So excited that one of my favorite reality shows is back!
They CANCELLED RJ Berger and their reviving Punk’d?! Is this the decline of MTV?
I’m with you on this. I loved RJ Berger. Miss that show!
Talk about a “dried-up” old idea. What executive got paid for this brilliance?
Fear Factor, now Punk’d.
It’s nostalgia programming for people who like to drink until they vomit.
Hey how can I get paid pretending to be interested in crap like this everyone else seems to be.
MTV is back with a hit. Punk’d is going to be super fun to watch next year. It is perfect timing the world needs laugh out loud together again.
