EXCLUSIVE: The Playboy Club co-star Naturi Naughton has joined the cast of Lifetime’s upcoming drama series The Client List as a series regular. Based on the network’s 2010 original movie, the Sony TV-produced series stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Riley, a Texas housewife who, after being deserted by her husband, ends up running a massage parlor, The Rub, which offers more than back rub. Naughton will play a new character, Kendra, a beautiful, hard-working masseuse at the parlor. Actress-singer Naughton, who co-starred in the 2009 feature remake of Fame, played Black bunny Brenda on NBC’s short-lived Playboy Club.

Seriously? There is a pattern with the roles this young woman is scoring that I don’t like.
She’s had two turns as a Playboy Bunny, and now she’s in a role in which she doles out happy endings? But she is playing no ordinary black girl stuck in illegal sex work, no. She is a “hard-working” masseuse. Huh??
I know that the roles are scarce for black actresses and I’m very happy to see her working, but how are these the only viable roles out there for her? What is her agent’s problem? What is Hollywood’s problem?
I am guessing you did not see her turn as Lil Kim in Notorious… Your panties would be more than bunched about her type-casting. They would be shrink-wrapped.
Need to talk to the agent on that one. Methinks the fact that since there is a job available, she advised her client to take it.
Ummm…this girl is not type cast. Naturi keeps doing her thing and she is a great actress who is working! Me personally, Im happy for her and I think that she deserves her success. I saw her in Notorious and she killed it…she added so much complexity to Lil Kim. Keep shining Naturi!
So Awesome! I think she is so beautiful and talented!!! She just doesn’t stop working!
So happy for her…everything she does she does it well. Beautiful&talented…I think she is the next hollywood “it” girl.
Ms.Naughton might want to have her agent working on another gig. The Client List is being heavily campaigned against by licensed massage therapists. We will not rest until this proposed TV show is pulled before it even airs.
