EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures has acquired screen rights to the Colleen Houck novel Tiger’s Curse. Mary Parent will produce through her Disruption Entertainment banner with Raphael Kryszek. The novel is about a 17-year-old girl who takes a temp job caring for a white tiger at the local circus and sets off on an epic adventure when she discovers the tiger is a cursed Indian prince who turns into a man for only 24 minutes per day. Their quest to end the curse leads them through exotic locales in India and brushes with Hindu gods and goddesses. Houck originally self-published the title on Kindle Books; after it reached No. 1 on the bestseller fiction list, the book was published by Splinter and is currently near the top of the New York Times Children’s list. The book has been translated into 15 languages.

It’s LadyHawke-best movie ever.
You nailed it there…what a rip off of the very original LADYHAWKE idea. Someone should alert Ed Khmara, the original screenwriter of this. On a sidenote: Oh dear God, I hope some idiot exec doesn’t read this and start developing a remake of LADYHAWKE with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner…
Don’t judge until you read the books.
your right no one should judge the movie until they read the book.
The book is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
I fell in love with the book after the first chapter. I know I will fall in love with the movie after 1 minute. I hope they make more movies with this series because i’m going to by all of them just like I did with Twilight.
This is in no way shape or form Ladyhawke. Read the books, or become a little informed at least before you make such comments.
This industry is like the Merv Griffin set on that “Seinfeld” episode — officially bottomed out. You’ve got to be kidding me. Who will see this?
I will
i will too who would’nt. these books have touched my heart and so will the movie.
I bloody well will. Judgemental people just miss out anyway!
This looks great! Bet is does huge internationally. Smart move.
Intriguing. Star crossed love, tigers, exotic locations and magical realism. I’ll suspend my skepticism for now…
If Hollywood’s true to form, there won’t be any “exotic locales”. It’s likely to be scripted with a setting in a US city with white actors cast in the lead roles.
You should read the books. They are fantastic, I read the first three in a week and am excited for the fourth to come out.
What are the odds on Melissa Rosenberg getting tapped for this?
Please don’t even think that!!!
I absolutely love this book! I can’t wait to see it come to life on the big screen.
I just hope the movie is as good as the book because some movies are made nothing like the book or are way better than the book.
True- thus Twilight
Yupp, Twilight shat itself
I just wish they would hurry up with the movie I’m going crazy. I think it will be so much better than twilight. they need to put the cast on the internet so I can check it out. i can’t contain my self much longer maybe they will get it done before i’m dead.
Hey monica! I am so there with you! I keep telling my parents that I’m going to die if the movie doesn’t come out soon! They keep kidding with me that their going to get a gravestone for me that says “Natalie, died from a movie that didn’t come out in time to save her life”. UGH! I can’t wait ’til the movie AND the book “Tiger’s Destiny” comes out!
Look, I’m a kid of the 80′s and I LOVE “Ladyhawke!” BUT that was almost 27 years ago at this point. And while it’s a similar theme, it’s a SELF PUBLISHED book by someone who probably spent more time and took more chances on getting it written in the first place than most people who have (or haven’t) done anything while posting on this site. And if you’re worried about an “orginal” idea. Then you probably hated the idea of a space captain criss-crossing the galaxy in his fantastic ship, discovering new worlds, and fighting evil along the way because it sounded too much like “Star Trek.”
OMG! I love these books, so excited!!! Just finished the third book.
Cant wait till the movie comes i love this series!
good idea…for Bollywood film.
I saw LadyHawke…Loved it. I’ve also read these books. I’m curious as to if the people calling this a LadyHawke remake have read them? Shapeshifting aside, these stories are remarkably different. Not even sure how you managed to make such a comparison? The books are fabulous! Can’t wait for the movie!
If done right, this will be an amazing movie. Colleen Houck amazes me. Her books are wonderful. It’s been months since I finished the last book, but I think about this series all the time. I’ve reread the first 2 several times. When I’m not reading these books I MISS the characters. I love to read, but that doesn’t happen tO me very often. I hope that gives everyone out there an idea of how wonderful these books are.
i read all the books that r out and i cannot wait for this movie! =^D
This is gonna be awesome! Can’t wait for the movie! Hopefully the movie is like the book ad I wonder r fans allowed to be given a chance to audition? Just asking…
For real! They need to cast people who have read the books atleast. I know for me it was difficult to remember that I was’nt kelsey. They need to cast someone like that, who is farmiliar with the character. It would be the coolest thing if the cast was made up of the fans
These books are AMAZING! Its like a 0.001% chance that this will be set entirely in America, considering that the book takes place almost entirely in India, and if they don’t use Indian actors to play Ren and Kishan, then they will have very angry fans! I trust that this will be a good movie, but I know it won’t be close to the books, because movies never are. But thats alright.
Yes. you are right. the actors who’s going to play Ren and Kishan MUST be indian. I think Hrithic Roshan for Ren and Abhishec Bachchan for Kishan are just right.
I’m pretty sure it will be as close to the book as possible…
I had never heard of “Ladyhawke” and decided to look it up since so many were mentioning that this movie would basically be a remake. Uhm…have you people recently watched this film? I say this because while they are similar with the shape shifting and the curse, that is where the similarities end. “Tiger’s Curse” is a completely separate and wonderful story and in my opinion remarkably better than “Twilight” and this says a lot as I am a huge “Twilight” fan. As for who would want to see this movie…I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying this movie. It has everything: action, adventure, romance, awesome cars, exotic locations, etc. I am extremely excited to see what Hollywood does with this story. They had better not disappoint me
OMG! Can’t wait! LOVED THE BOOKS! I will definitely buy it! GOOD LUCK,I’m sure it will be spectacular!
This is unlike any other book or movie I’ve ever read/seen!! For those of you who are skeptic, you should just take the time to read the first few chapters of her book, which you can find on her site for free. That will definitely dissuade you from comparison to any other book/movie. Colleen Houck is a FANTASTIC writer who deserves to be recognized, and making it to movie status isn’t something on EVERYONE’S repertoire. She seems to also have the conviction to stand by the books Indian roots when it comes to characters, so I totally see this being something new and refreshing! Congratulations Colleen, you deserve it!!
This is awesome
I just finished the third book! I only hope it doesn’t turn out like Inkheart, where they screwed up the movie by cutting out well over two thirds of the original book and also changed the base storyline. I also hope they get actors that fit the character descriptions. Good actors, unlike the first Twilight movie.
These books are amazing. before you dis the story as a rip off, perhaps you should read the books and understand how original they are. Or just be ignorant, judgmental assholes. whatever.
I LOVE tiger’s curse! I have read all the books like three times. Greatest books ever! They take you on magical type adventure, you feel like you are living in the book with characters and you wish never had to leave! I can’t wait for the movie!!!!!!
Totally and completely agree.
I’ve read all the books, and while I did enjoy them, Kelsey annoys me. I hope her annoying “Lookit me! I’m a radish :’( So Imma leave but I luffles you anyways! And lookit! I’s got a ribbon!
” is toned down onscreen.
OK can i just say that i laughed out loud for like 5 straight minutes at this comment. Perfect summary of Kelsey, Julia! hahahaha
You shouldn’t judge until you read the books. The idea might not be original but what movies actually are now? I mean seriously “Cowboys vs Aliens” and “We Bought a Zoo”? Whoever said those were original ideas? But they are still good movies… anyway I love the books and I cant wait for the film. Hopefully they choose GOOD actors! I know I’ll be there on opening day
My daughter says SHAHID KAPOOR is perfect for Ren – is that still a possibility?!
I think he would work a lot more for Kishan, just because in his pictures, he give off more of a ‘bad boy’ vibe.
Either way, tell your daughter he was a good choice!
I’n surprised at the amount of how many negative people are commenting on this. I can agree the way they made the story sound was rubbish, but these are some really great books and I was just thinking of how great a movie this would be before I saw this. I know I’LL love it, no matter what the others say.
I’m with you! I loved the books and can’t wait to see what they do with them on the big screen! They are imaginative and exciting and romantic. A perfect combo in a book if you ask me. Can’t wait!!
