Taylor Swift, the Civil Wars, Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire collaborated with T-Bone Burnett as the first of several contributors to the companion album for The Hunger Games, Lionsgate and Universal Republic Records confirmed today. Produced by Burnett, the companion album will feature all newly written songs based on themes that figure in The Hunger Games. Swift collaborated with Burnett to write and perform the album’s first single Safe and Sound which launched yesterday on iTunes and became one of the site’s top 10 songs within 12 hours. Butler and Chassagne have written a song with Burnett for the album entitled Horn Of Plenty, and The Decemberists contributed the original song One Engine. Burnett is executive music producer for the movie, and James Newton Howard is composing the score. The companion album will be released before the movie’s opening March 23. The Hunger Games soundtrack will be released separately.

Arcade Fire? I’m in.
Civil Wars? Yes, please!
Wait, so it’s a companion album, not the soundtrack? Um. K.
Apparently it has songs only “inspired by” the film.
One word: Magic
Arcadia Fire? Damn! I’m out.
Yeah, “ARCADIA Fire”. The ones who one Album of the Year at last year’s Grammys? Maybe you’ve heard of their awesome talent.
Arcadia Fire, you obviously have given them a fair chance since you don’t even know the name (even though it’s in the post).
Whenever I hear Kevin Rudolf’s “let it rock” … I think of Katniss and Peeta entering the stadium for the pre Games show on the chariots…”when I arrive, I can bring the fire” … Can’t imagine any other song for the entrance of the girl who was on fire.
The Decemberists are amazing. Love Arcade Fire too. Will have to check this album out.
Not being the biggest fan of Taylor’s, I was a little upset that she was in the album without listening to the song “Safe and Sound”. However, after hearing the song once, I loved it. I see the song playing when (SPOILER ALERT!!) Rue dies. “Just close your eyes. You’ll be alright.”
