UPDATE: TV Land’s first original series Hot In Cleveland opened its third season with 1.9 million viewers last night. That was down from the show’s second season premiere in January, which drew 2.95 million viewers, from the launch of the Season 2′s second part in June (2.4 million), and of course from Hot In Cleveland‘s monster series debut in summer 2010, which drew 4.8 million viewers. Hot In Cleveland‘s second season premiere led to the debut of TV Land’s latest original sitcom, The Exes, which logged 1.4 million viewers. That was down from the premiere of the network’s most recent new original entry, Fran Drescher’s Happily Divorced, which launched with a 2.4 million viewers behind the summer premiere of Hot In Cleveland and was subsequently renewed for a second season. Note: An earlier version of the story included cume numbers for the Hot In Cleveland (3.7 million) and and The Exes (2.9 million) premieres which were mistakenly released as premiere numbers by TV Land.

You’re Welcome.
Hot is stale, no doubt. Exes made me laugh, but I think it will quickly fall into the “stupid men” stereotype category and that’s about as funny as a kick in the balls.
Well, it’s tough when these shows are up against American Horror Story and Psych, among other shows.
I read TVLand is in 90 million homes. They will never do better until they get rid of the silly stuff on their shows and try to do something that is not so stupidly silly. Come on guys, get a little edge!
They both sucked
The laugh tracks in these shows are unbearable.
Having just discovered that Hot in Cleveland is subjecting viewers to the horrors of the laugh track, I’m wondering–perhaps it’s not the high quality show I’d expect from the actors involved…
My gosh TVLand, quit doing such sickly sweet shows! Redo Raymond or something at least it was not childlike!
Betty has been carring the show since the beginning. The scripts are just horrible. Valerie needs to lose weight the studio can’t airbrush every frame for her. And the other two are just way to thin.
As for the new show the exes. I was surprized that with so many previously funny people the show just plain sucks.
Would really love to watch Hot in Cleveland. But, as a retired senior citizen who took herself off FOOD STAMPS this year, Cable TV is beyond my limited income to afford. My access to the internet is currently limited, inconsistent, and temporary. Must I wait to see if the series goes into residuals–reruns once the series ends–o see it on ABC, NBC, CBS, ION, or Oregon Public Broadcasting? Programmers, please consider this very large audience demographic of which I am a part! Thank you and Happy Holidays.
P.S. Hope I haven’t bored ANYONE!
Hot is half the time hot, half the time not quite. Worst scripting are the mistaken identity episodes (dumb dumb dumb), and when all the four women set out to find dates, every one of which is farcically ill-suited. Some guest stars like Huey Lewis fall flat. Even Joan Rivers failed to launch any laughs. Susan Lucci is an absolute gem, bring her back please. Betty gets some great zingers, such a pro she is, and the other gals deliver some great one-liners, their characters smartly delineated. But the plotting is too often simplistically contrived. During one episode a few weeks back, say the Wed. before last Wed., I actually turned it off and went to bed.
I am delighted the show continues, because it has a lot going for it, and yet not surprised the ratings have dropped so steeply. It’s always about the writing.
They all suck, but not as much as the endless bombardment of commercials cramming them down your throat- over and over and over and over and over…EVERY commercial break- over and over and over…If the shows were really that good they wouldn’t need that much propping.
I love it! Can’t wait for another season.
