HBO tonight unspooled a new teaser for the upcoming second season of fantasy series Game Of Thrones titled Cold Winds Are Rising. The GOT trailer premiered before the second season finale of Boardwalk Empire. Both series landed slots on AFI’s list of the 10 Best TV Programs of the Year released this afternoon.

Well, that sucked.
But I still can’t wait for the series to return.
It’s an unbelievably, watchable, fantasy, and unlike Avatar, I didn’t get a headache.
YAY! Can’t wait to see the second book brought to life!
THE KING OF THE NORTH!!!!!
The king is IN the North.
Book reference. Clearly you haven’t read it.
Of course I’ve read it. When Winterfell declares their independence from the seven kindgoms they chant “The King is in the North.”
Huge fan of the show, and the books. But this teaser… meh.
Liked the first one much more, this one not so much. Still excited though.
The first one is a better story, but the second one has better “set pieces” that I can’t wait to see. The sack of Harrenhal, Daenerys’ visit to House of the Undying Ones, the prologue at Dragonstone, the confrontation between Stannis and Renly…
I can tell the ones who think Meh for a TEASER trailer have not read the books or don’t get the subtlety of what is happening in the teaser. As for me – I know what the three horns means and I am still curious why when we’re only supposed to be on the 2nd book.
Searching the ‘net it looks like they pulled a few things from the third book into the second series, such as John Snow and Ygritte’s night in the cave and the attack on The Fist of the First Men. What will they do with The Mummers? I hope it’s not cheesy.
I do not understand why people call these books fantasy. I’ve read them all and I am a die hard fantasy reader and these are about as much fantasy as Downton Abby is a documentary on the introduction of industrialized farming. I’ve been toying with the idea of watching the show because maybe then I won’t want to fire George Martin’s editor for their inability to say “um, George, I don’t think you need to describe everything about the castle” or “gee, I don’t know, how many scenes with raping children do YOU think you need”. I must say they did an ok job on casting even though they chickened out on the age of the kids. Is there more of a fantasy element in the show? Is the pacing at least better? The books are like watching paint dry some times.
