IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond stopped by CNBC’s Closing Bell today to talk about the large-screen exhibitor’s goals with Paramount’s Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, which launched exclusively on IMAX screens at midnight last night ahead of its wide release December 21. He also said the company’s international expansion comes at a perfect time as overseas markets grow ever more important to film studios’ bottom lines. IMAX stock is up 13% over the past three months.

Saw this on Sydneys IMAX (apparently the biggest in the world) and it was a great ride, over the top but a bunch of fun, cruise back doing his thing with signature intense focus and fun.
“Planty McPlant..!” As the kids on aicn say…
Although with Brad Bird directing, Joe might be on the level.
CNBC has been doing some excellent entertainment coverage lately. Which is to say, it’s all about the money. And Tom hasn’t been making anybody any money, lately.
No plant my friend. I’m just an oldschool fan of cruise.
What WAS annoying was the dark knight prologue was screened with just one centre speaker working!! The audio was atrocious. It wasn’t the sound mix. It was IMAX who i pressume stuffed up the calibration or something. I wasn’t the only one yelling out for them to fix it. So annoying.
A week ago, you couldn’t pay me to see MI:GP. I expected the worst and was never a fan of the original series.
Now? After reading some reviews, seeing the RT score, and hearing some of the buzz… I’ll pay to see it in IMAX.
I’m an example. This thing is going to have traction – that is, until Girl With a Dragon Tattoo. So not for very long… they should’ve released this two weeks ago.
