The Weather Channel has ordered two additional seasons of its breakout freshman hit Coast Guard Alaska, which follows a team of Coast Guard swimmers and rescue pilots stationed in Kodiak, AK, as they train and implement strategies to save lives while battling harsh, icy weather conditions. The docu-reality series, produced by Al Roker Entertainment, has received pickups for a five-episode second season to premiere in April 2012 and an eight-episode Season 3 to premiere in October 2012, which will feature missions beyond Kodiak. Season 1, which has posted a 95% time slot increase in adults 25-45 and has almost doubled its audience since the debut, has two remaining episodes, which will air Jan. 11 and Jan. 18.

Good series but only 5 and 8 episodes pickup roker should move it to another network where more episodes would work
I wonder if they will have anything on the new episodes about how the CG is railroading one of their own pilots in Juneau? Guess we will have to wait and see.
It would be nice to see how the case comes out. People died in a crash on a sunny day ferrying a helicopter (not a SAR). Seems appropriate that it be investigated and if there was negligence that someone be held accountable (either the pilots who are trained to ensure there is no negligence or the agency that set up the conditions for that negligence). But lets not assume they are railroading a well trained pilot who should know the flight plan and it’s hazards. Maybe he is innocent, but the process is appropriate.
Great seeing so many coasties and glad to see they added Ketch and Sitka crews.. Although Kodiak Air Sta is awesome, I am glad to see others getting their props!
