EXCLUSIVE: Winona Ryder has just committed to star with Michael Shannon and Chris Evans in The Iceman, the Ariel Vromen-directed drama based on the Anthony Bruno book about Richard Kuklinski, a family man who secretly carried out contract killings for the mob. Millennium Films/Nu Image is financing. Shannon is playing Kuklinski, aka The Iceman, and Evans is playing his mentor, Robert Pronge. Ryder, most recently seen in Black Swan and The Dilemma, will play Kuklinski’s wife, Deborah, who did not know that he was a contract killer. Gersh-repped Ryder just wrapped the indie The Stare opposite James Franco.

Alright Winona! Big Coup! Cant wait to see you in this flick and in The Stare! Glad to see your career having a resurgence, you are an amazing actress and person and you deserve it!
How can you not love Winona Ryder?
Spend ten minutes with her.
Wow. How does she manage to still look like she’s in her 20s, and better looking than actresses actually in their 20s.
Joe Melnick, this photo of Winona Ryder is a old picture, not a recent picture. If you saw her in Black Swan , Ryder has aged.
Ditto. Always liked the lady and despite whatever past stuff she had she’s managed to thankfully keep a low profile.
The story line reminds me of “The Winter of Frankie Machine” by Winslow. Wonder when that’s going to get made?
I did wonder what would happen for this part once it was announced that Maggie Gyllenhall was preggers. Good to know that things are still on the move. Winona is rad. (I have to say that because a. it is trufax and b. she is my 90s idol. Oh, and c. because she is Spock’s mum.)
I’m really looking forward to this film.
Love it. She steals every scene she is in! GO WINONA!
Always have liked her. I felt bad when she took a header. I hope she makes a comeback.
She stole a few scenes right from under Natalie Portman in that SWAN crap. I love Winona. I will watch.
Marco P, she stole her scenes from Natalie because she was over-the-top to the extreme.
She’s showing it’s possible to come back after pretty much destroying a public image: Go away and be quiet for a good while and then come back with small parts in quality projects, gradually increasing in size. Others who’ve made big mistakes could take a leaf from her book.
Wait… Chris Evans is playing Michael Shannon’s mentor?? That doesn’t seem right.
This project has been in hell for a while and I guess bad casting was the only way out.
