EXCLUSIVE: WME has just signed Maggie Gyllenhaal, who got a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Crazy Heart. She had been repped by CAA, and continues to be repped by her longtime manager Courtney Kivowitz at The Schiff Co. Gyllenhaal next stars in Won’t Back Down, the Walden Media drama that Fox releases in March, and Hysteria, which Sony Pictures Classics releases in May.

Never got her appeal quite honestly. She chews the scenery and is like nails on a chalkboard.
Without much question the most overhyped and under-talented actress of her generation. We get it, Maggie, you’ve got the “lazy smile-with-sultry-eye-roll” thing down. Whoopee.
Great sign. I can’t see her ever being a ‘major star,’ but she is so talented that she will always find work and be a cash cow for whichever agency reps her.
The scene in Dark Knight where she realizes that Batman saved Harvey Dent and that she’s about to die still haunts me.
Why are there no stories about how many clients CAA lost this year?
Between this, the fallout from the Hillary Swank thing and all those agents leaving and bringing a lot of their clients with them, they must of lost nearly 100 clients this year (some big names and high earners too). The peanut gallery here, at the Deadline comments, are always pumping their fists and banging on their chests everytime some third rate TV actor leaves one of the smaller agencies for CAA.
What’s going on over there?
Seriously, this brother and sister are not stars, no matter how hard the system tries to shove them down our throats. Nepotism has taken them so very far, but they both lack the charisma and talent required to rocket off on their own.
What’s more, this actress is just physically hideous. I don’t care how talented she is. Her face could stop time. She looks like a Picasso gone terribly awry. Her aggressive ugliness far, far outweighs her talent. I don’t know one guy who watched The Dark Knight and found it remotely believable that Bruce Wayne could ever dig this woman. She’s that busted.
You mean that all ugly actresses shouldn’t exist? Let’s give roles just for bimbos like Jessica Biel and Blake Lively?
Wow “Ok I’ll Say It” … You’re just rude and mean. Don’t you think your a little over the top? Her “aggressive ugliness” Are you kidding me? So rude
Forget looks or talent…she is one of the truly entitled and difficult ones. Also, her incredibly smug, inappropriate, and ill-informed political rants whenever a microphone is within 10 feet of her are downright painful. Icky.
And she almost kept Jeff Bridges from that Oscar. And as objects of obsession for James Spader in “Secretary” and Will Farrell in “Stranger than Fiction” what were they thinking!
What exactly IS going on over at CAA?
This has been an extremely torrential year for them, worse than any I can remember any other agency ever having.
They appear to be on the verge of internally combusting, and surely a story about this by Nikki is well warranted?
Series, anyone?
TV time.
She’s a talent. Seems like a classy lady too. Good for her.
Whoa- why the Maggie hate? I remember her from Secretary and thought she was lovely – fresh and pretty fearless in a role that could have been done completely over the top. I agree she is not a traditional beauty but a ‘face that could stop time’…. seriously, every woman shouldn’t have to look like Jolie to have a career in US cinema. No wonder actors are so completely whacked and insecure. I wish her the best at WME and look forward to seeing her on screen. PS be a little nicer- karma’s a bitch- happy Christmas
Completely agree with this statement. I think she has definitely proven that she’s talented.
