EXCLUSIVE: 20th Century Fox is hiring Emily Bear to run the studio’s publicity office in New York. Bear will come in as SVP Publicity and report to EVP Bumble Ward. She will oversee all publicity, promotional and field operations in New York. I’m told Bear will start next month. Until then, she will continue working on awards-season films for producer Scott Rudin. Bear has overseen publicity on Rudin’s behalf on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Moneyball and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, as well as last year’s Best Picture nominees The Social Network and True Grit, and the Tony-winning Broadway musical The Book Of Mormon. Bear previously ran publicity at Miramax Films and oversaw campaigns for No Country For Old Men, The Diving Bell And The Butterfly, The Queen, and Gone, Baby, Gone. Before that she ran publicity for Bob Weinstein’s Dimension Films.

A GREAT hire by Oren and Bumble. She is the best and just what is needed. I am amazed at all the changes in Fox’s marketing department…….for a place that so rarely changes…..so much for the better. They have built such a top caliber team.
a great publicist and fantastic human beiing deserves a great job. congrats
She’s a good hire, but it still doesn’t fix the fundamental management issues at that place, in this case there is no one capably running marketing or publicity in LA. Oren is in over his head and Bumble, well, I;ll leave it at that. Hopefully, Tom and Jim will start seeing that nothing will ever change until Oren and Tony are replaced.
Emily is very cool and a fantastic executive. Filmmakers, talent, press and industry folk respect and adore her! Fox is very fortunate to have her part of their team. Mazel tov!
A fantastic hire, great people skills, great taste, integrity all the way around. Congrats Emily.
Having worked for Emily I can say she is a wonderful person and a smart publicist – Fox is lucky to have her.
The current head of PR, Elizabeth Pettite, is one of the most popular and pleasant in the biz. Shame if she’s sacrificed for this. Short sighted to say the least.
Smart. Savvy. Industry pro…who would she take that job??? Alvin 4?
