The Book Of Mormon juggernaut shows no signs of abating. The Tony-winning musical, which recouped its initial investment in eight months and has a precedent-setting $40 million advance sale on Broadway, is now getting ready to hit the road with two road companies. The first stop, a three-week run in Denver, just sold out in only five hours. Tickets will begin selling shortly for a 12-week run in Los Angeles. Broadway is certainly perilous – Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark will have to play for years for investors to have a shot at recouping that $75 million investment — but when these stage productions work as well as The Book Of Mormon, Wicked and Jersey Boys, they mint money forever and are a better bet than movies. And there is an eventual movie down the road, as is the case with all three of those hits.
