Bravo has set a March 11 premiere date for Shahs Of Sunset, a Ryan Seacrest-produced reality series about a group of six young Persian-American friends in Los Angeles. The network is proceeding with the series despite some criticism from the Iranian American community about Shahs Of Sunset reinforcing ethnic stereotypes (not unlike the initial backlash against MTV’s mega hit Jersey Shore‘s portrayal of Italian Americans) as well as a lawsuit filed in November by Kathy Salem who sought to block Bravo from airing her scenes, accusing the show’s producers from deliberately trying to humiliate her. Salem is not a member of Shahs Of Sunset‘s regular cast, and a rep for Bravo declined to say whether she would be featured on the show. Here is a promo for the series:
