Ick, why? Charisma vacuum.
Double ick….had his shot…not a fan
Jim Sturgess is not up-an-coming. He’s been around for some five years now without ever truly taking off.
I am sort of past actors having to ‘take off’ and British actors dont seem to be into that star thing. They look for a variety of interesting roles, do theater when there are no film roles, take small parts if they are interesting enough and have a pretty ‘blue collar’ attitude toward it all. I thought Sturgess gave a very solid performance in ‘The Way Back’.
Sturgess has been around for a few years but interestingly chose to do more independent films. He has been fantastic in all of them and to me is definitely on the rise!…a very versatile actor and not so interested in the Hollywood mainstream!
How ca you say that he hasn’t ‘Taken off’ or that he ‘Had his shot’? He’s continued to work with amazing film makers like Peter Weir and is now working with the Wachowski’s in the most anticipated film of this year!!!…seems to me like you haven’t been paying attention!
I agree, Shira; The Way Back was a great movie and Jim did a wonderful job. So many amazing British actors aren’t big names to much of America because they don’t go from one huge blockbuster to another.
he has worked with great directors but never popped off the screen…colin F, Soarse R and Ed Harris blew him off the screen in Weir’s film…he was terrible in One Day…a bomb… and he plays a Korean guy in the Wachowski’s movie…yikes! he was cute in Across The Universe but I never believed him as any other character he has played.
Sturgess’ peformance in The Way Back was incredibly subtle and nuanced as an everyday man who wasn’t the stereo typical hero. He couldn’t have played the part better. Yeah Colin Farrell’s ‘Character’ was a bolder brush stroke but that doesn’t mean it was better.
If you want to see Sturgess jump off the screen then watch him in ‘Fifty Dead Men Walking’. He always serves the character perfectly. Definitely one of the more interesting actors around..
I agree. I feel Jim is very versatile actor who is different in every part that he plays. His character in ‘Fifty Dead Men Walking’ is so different to his character in ‘One Day’ you would hardly believe it was the same person.
>I never believed him as any other character he has played.
Check out Fifty Dead Men Walking,Heartless and Thursday the 12th.Jim Sturgess is incredible talented actor and musician. And really nice person.
To the poster: jim who? Unfortunately, your post totally ruins any chance of your participation into a proper debate or worthy opinion about this versatile actor who has latent excellence with the inclusion of the phrase ‘he was cute in across the universe’. The reason why films such as the abominable Twilight exists is because of people like yourself.
Jim was the best thing about One Day…his performance as Dexter was amazing!!!!
