After a strong premiere, Showtime’s new dark comedy House Of Lies slipped a modest 13% in its second airing on Sunday, averaging 891,000 total viewers at 10 PM. Its lead-in, drama Shameless (1.25 million), was down 20% from its second-season opener. The two series aired against the Golden Globes where Showtime had a strong showing, winning three major awards including best drama series for Homeland.
Elsewhere on Sunday, the Season 1 finale of AMC’s Hell On Wheels drew 2.8 million total viewers at 10 PM, down from the series’ big 4.4 million debut but up from recent airings. Hell On Wheels, which has been renewed for a second season, closed out its freshman season as AMC’s second-most-watched series behind The Walking Dead. On Monday, Season 2 of Syfy’s Being Human launched with 1.8 million total viewers (1.1 million 18-49s), down 10% in viewers and up 9% in 18-49 from the show’s series debut.

I didn’t think I would like House of Lies, but its pretty quirky. I do like it.But if you want to watch Being Human see the original on BBC America, much better.
After seeing the pilot, it was a no-brainer to skip it. Having the lead talking to the camera worked in Wayne’s World, and that’s about it.
I concur! Such a snooze fest… I expected more out of Showtime. Their first misfire for me.

Oh my god. HOL is the worst. Putting a camera in ‘House of Pies’ would be a more interesting show.
While I felt it really had enjoyable moments and some top notch acting, Lies just comes across as overwhelmingly disjointed. It feels like it needs a more embraceable throughline to me.
I think House of Lies is the best new show on television. Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Schwartz and Lawson have great chemistry, the show is seriously funny and is the only thing out there pointing a lens at the dirty dealings of big business. I’m in.
What in the world made them put this on? Boring and exactly opposite to the zeitgeist.

Maybe if you want to boost ratings, how about you leave the ENTIRE season of a show on the OnDemand? More than once I wanted to check out a show, only to see that the first few were already gone from the OnDemand. Very annoying and discourages me from even bothering.
House of Lies is a missed opportunity – all the ingredients are there but it’s too glib and
self conscious to work which is big disappointment given the caliber of this cast, especially Cheadle.
Shameless Season 2 is trying too hard to differentiate itself from it’s British origins – the original
is a much more coherent and works up to this season. It too is all over the place in it’s desire to
shock and is missing the point of what made the original worth remounting.
Figure it out kids!
House of Lies is very disappointing. This show has managed to make Don Cheadle and Ben Schwartz unlikeable. Shame on you, Showtime. SHAME ON YOU!

Good for Cheadle, getting a show where all the women wanna bang him. Too bad the show tries so hard to be super hip.
There’s something about Kristin Bell that just really annoys the hell out of me. I don’t know what it is but I do know that I try to avoid anything she appears in.
Anyone know how SyFy’s new show “Lost Girl” did? I know it’s a Canadian import but I really liked it.

HOL – one of the worst shows ever. Don Cheadle certainly deserves better. And that whole breaking the 4th wall thing is so not working.

Lies. Don Cheadle as a playboy? Eww, that’s the main reason why I can’t watch it…they need a better looking man to play his part, like Laz Alonso.
Couldn’t agree more. 100% hooked. Great writing, great story arcs, funny, acerbic and intelligent. On my list with Dexter, Breaking Bad, Modern Family. Suspect the show will be stretching even more as it finds its legs.
