CBS’ annual Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials special is undergoing a makeover. Gone is longtime host Jim Nantz, who co-hosted with Lara Spencer for the past two years. This year, CBS Sports’ NFL analyst Boomer Esiason and former The Biggest Loser star Jillian Michaels will co-host the special, slated to air February 1. Additionally, CBS is making the program, essentially a parade of commercials, even more sponsor-friendly by counting down the 10 greatest Super Bowl commercial brands vs. individual commercials. Featured in this year’s special are Budweiser, Bud Light, Careerbuilder.com, Coke, Doritos, E*Trade, FedEx, GoDaddy.com, Pepsi and Victoria’s Secret. Voting is now open.

First, Jillian Michaels is inexplicably added to a show called The Doctors, and it was almost comical to watch as they stretched and struggled to fit her into the segments, on most of which she had absolutely nothing informative to add. Maybe that’s why she hasn’t been on for some time; maybe she’s just been busy.
Now she’s co-hosting a show about the Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials because…why, exactly? She’s an expert on pro football? No. Because she’s shot a few commercials? I guess.
Nothing against her, as she is doing what she’s supposed to do in terms of extending her “brand” beyond the show that made her and where she was a perfect fit. Just not sure why people keep hiring her for shows where she brings nothing to the table.
If they just wanted a quasi-celebrity, Pamela Anderson was probably available. Or one of the Kardashians. They would have as much reason to be there as she does.
Now the networks are going to berate us with this woman…she’s on two other networks, doing silly commercials for GoDaddy.com and on that show the Doctors. Hoping nobody watches this special on CBS, especially with that blowhard Esiason on there.
