The Los Angeles Dodgers and Fox Sports late Tuesday settled their legal feud over the sale of the bankrupt team’s broadcast rights after the 2013 season. The Dodgers agreed to abide by their current contract with Fox and won’t attempt to auction future rights before Fox’s exclusive negotiating period ends November 30. In exchange, Fox agreed to drop litigation against the Dodgers. The settlement removes uncertainty and will allow the Dodgers to be sold by April 30 under a deal owner Frank McCourt previously reached with Major League Baseball. Initial bids are due January 23. Potential buyers include Joe Torre, LA area developer Rick Caruso, Orel Hershiser, Magic Johnson, Steve Garvey, Peter O’Malley, Fred Claire, Andy Dolich, Steve Cohen of the hedge fund SAC Capital Advisors, Stan Kasten, Guggenheim Partners CEO Mark Walter, Larry King, Jason Reese of Imperial Capital and the family of the late Roy E. Disney.

So the team agrees to do what they contractually are bound to do and Fox Sports agrees not to sue the crap out of them.
Can’t wait to see how Frank McCourt spins this as a “win”.
Since Fox owns both a regional cable network and a broadcast-TV station (KTTV) in Los Angeles, I would guess that one Dodgers’ game a week will be on KTTV, with the remaining games (apart from national telecasts) on their regional cable sports network.
F Frank McCourt. We need to get this guy out of LA. He needs to be exiled from our city. Plain and simple. He is not welcome.
The future Dodgers owner(s) would be insane to not resign with Fox. Time Warner cable is in the midst of making up their own broadcasting channels and will vehemently out bid Fox to own their rights….just like they did with the Lakers. However, whatever becomes of Time Warner’s attempt at broadcasting scares me because their piss poor mentality and shitty product as a cable provider. Its simply a lose-lose if they let TW into the game. They have promised the Lakers and now the high school sports programming (even if minimal as it is) the world and have yet to deliver a damn thing….especially to those outside customers/fans who have cable with other providers.
