Bones creator Hart Hanson sounded pretty confident that Fox would greenlight an eighth and likely final season of the quirky drama for next fall. “Oh hell yes!” he replied to a question of whether he was looking for the show to come back “if those negotiations work out.” He made the comments today during the TCA panel for his upcoming Bones spinoff The Finder, in which he participated via Skype due to a recent motorcycle accident. He added that he was “very confident” an agreement would be reached and that he and the producers had plenty of ideas left in the tank. “Putting Booth and Brennan (David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel) together and having a child as far as we’re concerned reinvigorated the series,” Hanson said. “There are still very good stories to be told in the Bones universe, stories that our characters generate. So that’s a long way of saying ‘Yes, I’d like it to come back.’ And I’m not even on painkillers right now.” Hanson wasn’t at the panel in person and was shown to be pants-free during the session. Earlier in the day, Fox’s entertainment president Kevin Reilly was less committal. “We need to do a new deal with Bones for next season if we’re going to keep it going,” he said. “I’d like to keep it going.” He also said that this season of Bones, cut to 17 episodes because of star Deschanel’s pregnancy, may go back to 22 episodes if the producers can deliver 5 extra segments.
On the subject of The Finder, which premieres next Thursday following an original Bones, the show’s title became an issue of debate during the afternoon session. Based on The Locator books by Richard Greener, The Finder is an hourlong procedural that centers on an Iraq War vet (Geoff Stults) who has a remarkable ability to find hard-to-trace people. At the panel, the producers in attendance, along with Hanson, listed such rejected possibilities as Lost & Found; Location, Location, Location and The Locator. “It sounded too much like a real estate show,” Hanson said. Added executive producer Barry Josephson, “I remember spending 45 minutes of a network phone call debating Finder vs. The Finder. While it’s a little bit of a flat title, it does correctly describe the show.” Hanson admitted, “Boy, we went through a hundred (titles). … What I wanted, and Kevin (Reilly) said no to, was Cougar Town.”

wether bones return for a season 8 or not i dont care
I have to confess, I really enjoyed Bones when it started but I drifted away from it during Season 4.
Nice. Nothing like having the audience continually ask you about your other show, and not the one the panel is supposed to be focusing on. I think that says it all about “Finder.”
If you watch The Finder, you are the problem.
Why was it called The Finder when it’s based on a book series called The Locator? Why not just use the same name so fans of the books will find the new series?
I would like to see a good solid season 8 of Bones without the BS schedule it had this season. If there is not a season 8, I hope they end the series in style and not just cut it off like I have seen in other finales.
Bones lost me as a loyal viewer when the writers had Brennan
consider having an affair Booths brother Jared.
This was over the top for me…. ever wonder why the writers
had Brennan involved with 3 men all connected with Booth.
I have no interest in The Finder and will not bother watching.
The Finder is a fine title for me. While in the books, which there are only two of…so it is a small “series,” Walter is referred to as The Locator, this show is only loosely based on the two books. I think the drastic differences allow for an all new title. I am excited for show, and not hopeful for it to follow in the Knowland Retribution or the Lacey Confessions footsteps. Although, both are great books, I recommend reading them; particularly the first book.
I don’t care about the negative things that people say about Bones, because I love that show. An I really want the show to come back fir a 8th season,, my family loves it to an I have a big family!!!!!
I think bi weekly scheduling of both shows, alternating Finder one week and Bones the next would have given the cast a break from the rigors of doing a weekly show. This would also have given a longer life to both shows. Since the plots for Finder are limited, and are already starting to stretch and Bones story is like riding an emotional roller coaster and no barf bag. I just finish a Bones-a-thon this weekend 3 days season one through season 6 and the free ones of 7 on Hulu. I hate to it go, but change is inevitable.
I love bones and love to see it come back on!! I am a single mom raising my daughter and are bonding time is siting down and watching bones!! This show has brought us together!! So please never cancel this show.
I love this show! I want it to continue forever. I hate it when I find a show I like and it gets cut short for whatever reason.
