  • I don’t have a link but I read this script. It’s written by Derick Martini, who wrote and directed Lymelife. For the contingent of Lyme-lovers (I’m a semi-lover. Lots of potential in that film, some parts were a little slow) they will probably love or hate this film. I read a draft that is supposedly current and to be produced by Montecito Pics and Paramount. It’s much broader, overtly funnier story that basically has to do with a couple of “secret” “hidden” adoptions. All hell breaks loose when the parties involved discover they’ve been adopted and a wacky pot-toking road trip ensues. Efforts to find a mythical “real father” are twisted and turned around and it’s pretty funny.

    • Very funny script. Not dark and gritty. It’s Reitman/Montecito. The makers of I Love You Man. Road Trip etc. the Martini script I read was “untitled” and it’s actually got a lot more heart than the above mentioned. And also that same brand of big studio funny stuff happening.

• Emma R is not so bad w/Martini. In fact, she was probably at her best in Lymelife. And she’s done some other good work too. Why the hate?

• Emma has done a lot of cool different parts. She was a breakout in Lymelife that Martini also directed and rocked Scream 4.

• Submarine was awesome, I agree. I put Lymelife WAY up there on the Indie list with a GREAT cast, Baldwin, Hutton, Roberts, the Culkin’s, and the surprise performance by Jill Hennessy – Plus, a very realistic and beautiful film written & directed by Martini (all for under $1.75M). I don’t know much about this script, but Martini obviously can draw the talent and word from agents are actors love him. Personally, I think Emma is a great young actress and works a lot, so maybe Will can continue to play his Xbox 360? Not only is Emma beautiful, but she has great energy on screen. Craig is fantastic as well… Can’t wait to see this one!!! Please start shooting soon!!!!

• Let me guess….Alec Baldwin, Rory Culkin & Kieran Culkin will pop up in roles announced in the near future. This director is locked in on the same actors. I saw Hick, which he directed, and there were some new faces in it but never the less Baldwin showed up and then Culkin showed up.

  Martini’s reps should tell him to use his imagination or hire a new casting director.

      • I didn’t know they let amateurs respond on this board. So many of our greatest filmmakers work with the same actors again and again. Eastwood, Scorsese, to name a couple. Martini is known to be great with actors and be able to get great performances. Of course he’s going to keep working with actors he knows can get the best out of and vice versa.

        Emma Roberts was never better than Lymelife. Alec Baldwin hasn’t been better in a drama since….GlenGarryGlenRoss. He was on fire in Lymelife. I hope Martini fills this one up with his repeats. It’ll make for a better film.

• Martini is an intoxicating filmmaker to be on set with. I’m writing with authority because I’ve been on Lymelife and Hick. Some days you may feel like you need a Martini by the time you’re on the Martini shot, but it’s a cool ride. Especially for the cast. This is great news!!!’
