James Stern’s Endgame Entertainment will co-finance with Private Defense Contractors the Steven Soderbergh-directed ‘Bitter Pill.’ The film stars Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures had originally been expected to finance, but that became shaky in the past few weeks. That gives the film new funding and a new titles. The film was originally titled Bitter Pill, but was retitled Side Effects, before going back to Bitter Pill. Open Road is releasing domestically.

Good. The only thing Endgame should be doing is passively financing movies. As long as they keep quiet and don’t try to put their creative stamp on anything, they may come out okay, because they have no idea how to develop or make movies.
Endgame has been very supportive to independent films, their last several projects, An Education and Their series in development, Sport in America, are great concepts.
I have to questions endgames business model. While they’ve been involved with good projects in the past, They never seem to make any films with commercial appeal. Surely that model is not sustainable.
I’m a big Rooney Mara fan after Dragon Tattoo. Looking forward to seeing her in something else.
Cannot wait to see how Jim Stern tries to insert himself “creatively” in this project. The man thought “Good Old Fashion Orgy” was going to be a commercial hit and “An Education” was not going to sell. I read disaster here!
It’s actually 1984 Private Defense Contractors, they just did The Grey that was released last week, on a roll huh?
they have the nic cage movie coming out that looks pretty commercial. just wish they had kept the title “the hungry rabbit jumps”. first half of that script was great.
They stuck their fingers in all the wrong places in that movie and hired a very weak producer.
